Today I Dreamed of Aubergine... Rainbow Connection Weekly Winners

I went on a walk with my 6 year old niece this week... My niece knows all about Rainbow Connections and our Colorful Competitions...

She's helped me find and / or posed for hot pink pictures, chrome pictures, lavendar pictures, and red pictures to name a few.

She's always very excited to hear what's going on in our group. "What color is it this week?" she asked, as we started out on our adventure. 

"We're looking for aubergine today", I told her.

"Aubergine?" she said, stumbling over the pronunciation at first.

"It's a fancy name for eggplant."

"What color is eggplant?" she asked, crinkling up her nose.  We stepped outside. "The color of Grandma and Grandpa's front door," I said.

"Oh! I think I found some!" she said a second later.

That's perfect," I said, snapping a photo.

"There's some more aubergine over here!" she called out a few seconds later.

I had just finished taking the next photo when I heard her voice again.

"Auntie Sherrie, look! I found some more aubergine," she laughed, saying the word aubergine two times more, each time with a more pronounced, pretend French accent.

Then, "I think there's some aubergine in this rock," she said.

"This is fun!" she said, pointing here, there, and everywhere.

"I'm finding aubergine all over the place!"

When we finished taking pictures, we went back inside the house, and she even found some aubergine there, on a chair we'd sat in many times, but never really looked at...
