Book Review: Icebound by Dean Koonz

This sounds like a refreshing read for a hot, summer day.

It is, if yur iagination can create cool thoughts ...you'll have *lots* of help! It also keeps you right ther on th edge of your beach blanket! He really does know how to crank up the suspense, and sometimes, adventure opera is just ...fun! Shoshana H.

I didn't even know he had a new book coming out. I'm getting behind on my reading.

Although I am not a fan of Dean Koontz's fiction, I honor him for being a highly intelligent man and one who is (or at least was) very generous with his advice to new writer's. He's written at least several (that I know of) books for Writer's Market. Thanks for sharing this review!

I love your phrase "adventure opera." It begs a lot of questions which may be fun to answer.

Wow ...forget to check comments on old posts, and looky! OK ...first, a note on the reviews I write. They are often audio books (I read everything in audio format) that I get from various sources, including libraries, so they might not be new. I promise to be more about copyright and publication dates! It's just aht they tend to "hide" those, either at the very beginning or the very end of the book, and it can be a minor chore to fin them, then remember them long enough to insert ...but I will, honest! Now ...I'll look for the Page Turners group, and join up! Can't get enough book talk, ya know. Carolian ...adventure opera has the same characteristics as space opera ...without the space ships (usually) or aliens (mostly.) But it's the same idea ...something terrible happens, then something worse happens, then ...nd it all turns out OK. No depth to speak of, but lots of fun! Diane ...also mention the book "The Face" to your son! In many ways, it's a better book. I reviewed that one, too, LOL! I didn't realize Mr. Koonz had written for the Writer's Market! I think that's awesome. A very dear friend of mine is a successful writer in the fields of SF/fantasy, and she teaches several writer's workshops at SF cons around the country. I can think of all kinds of reasons that writers shoud do things like that, not the least of them being that exposing oneself to "young" talent keeps one sharp, and provides sometimes much needed stimulation. Hmmm ...note to self ...never give up on old posts ...people sometimes *find* them, and comment!

Haven't read this one, but I usually love his stuff. I will have to look for it.
