I quote from Wikipedia.
"In sociology (and psychology) the degree to which one party trusts another is a measure of belief in the honesty, benevolence and competence of the other party. Based on the most recent research, a failure in trust may be forgiven more easily if it is interpreted as a failure of competence rather than a lack of benevolence or honesty."
If you've read any of my previous articles relating to politics, you would know that I have a general distaste for politicians as a whole.  I subscribe to the theory that this country no longer needs a politician in the Oval Office, we need a man or a woman who will only tell us what they thorougly intend to do as the President.Â
Quit telling us lies! Don't tell us what you think will get you elected. Tell us the truth!Â
I'm thoroughly disappointed and misled. In light of the recent unveiling of the Edwards' affair, I through voting for politicians. As a matter of fact, I'm going to make it my priority from now until we get the right person in the Oval Office to campaign for any person that is honorable enough to admit mistakes up front. We need honesty!
Anybody with me? Let's find someone who has not been a big-time player in Washington for starters. Preferably someone who still has a moral attachment to doing things the right way just because it's right.Â
Let's make a change!  Â

Secondly, anyone running for office has become a politician.
Herein is the crux of the problem. They tell us what we want to hear because we only vote for those people that tell us what we want to hear. If we want politicians to tell us the up-and-up, we must be willing to take it. Unfortunately we have a habit of whining about politicians and their pandering, then turn around and vote for the guy pandering and against the guy who tries to tell us the truth.
In essence, it's our fault and we deserve what we get. They CAN'T change unless WE change. And as we can see this election season, we all clamor for change but are afraid to vote for it.

Yes, it is essentially our fault for the way things are. The duty does rest on us to attempt change. That's all I'm looking for is to inspire voters to really think about who they are voting for. Let's vote for the change that needs to be.
there are good politicians out there but at Federal level they are rare. I count about 4 congressmen and 1 senator, none of them mine. We have seen the end I think of national level politicians being straight with us, they know most Americans vote for who will give them the most with the cost going to others.
isn't any one running that I would vote for. Mitt Romney, maybe.
