The amount you will get is a percentage of the deceased's basic Social Security benefit. The percentage depends on your age and the type of benefit you are eligible for. Which means there are all sorts of variables involved.

You can draw your own and 3/4 of your husbond or some thing like that. I draw 1/2 of my ex-husbonds He is now dead. Because he was the father of my 4 children and we were married for over 10 years I draw my own and I draw 1/2 of my husbonds who ofcoures is still living

You can find out online. My husband passed 2 years ago. I get SS for me but I am not allowed to earn more than 12,900 a year or they take $1 for every $2 earned over the $ 12,900 limit.
My kids get it until they are 18 and I get it for me until the youngest turns 16. After that I am on my own.

they figue up the percent and you get it. My husband died in 93. I went to the ss office. I got 75% because it was me and two kids. had I not had the kids they told me it would be less, which averaged out to 25% per person.

The ss office sends out statements that should tell you all that. Call and see why you are not getting them in the mail and how to get one sent. The amount depends on when your husband retires, I think.

I think if you are getting SS from that spouse and he/she dies, you loose what's left, I'm not sure, I would have to call SS and find out. Call or go to www.socialsecurity.gov and see if you can find out on line.
