Does any one in the USA know how social security works with the loss of a spouse?

I was told that if your spouse passes, that they only give you 50% or 60% of their social security. Is that true? I was always under the impression that you got the full amount. Anyone know?

My kids get it until they are 18 and I get it for me until the youngest turns 16. After that I am on my own.
Good luck
