I've been working for ChaCha for about 5-7 days now. I'm a complete night person, and it makes sense to get paid to search at night when all I'm doing is watching my DVR shows. I can at least make a little money while I'm at it! Anyway, there has been a big controversy about the 50% pay cut over at ChaCha, and people are going absolutely ape-**** on the forum for the Guides.
I really have to agree with ChaCha on this pay cut thing, though. I read through people's answers to queries and see some of the stupidest answers! Obviously, ChaCha's customers are not getting the professional answers that they should be getting from such a service. Even if the question asked is something conversational, I try to keep it professional, kind, and tasteful. I see people in the history giving the worst advice, handing out wrong information, and using bad websites as their source. It's really not hard to make 350 searches in 1 week (which is a pretty generous timeframe, in my opinion). Those 350 searches have to be within 95% of ChaCha's quality parameters, which, again, doesn't seem hard if you are professional and hard working.
Basically, it's not hard to make 0.20 a search over there! Don't be discouraged about things you have read or heard about ChaCha. I have a feeling that once they weed out all of the Guides who are just being silly and taking advantage just for the money they make, the Guide pay will probably go back up or they will have more incentives for us to take advantage of. Most of the people boohooing on the message boards over there are probably the people with the answers I see in the histories! Horrible and very unprofessional!
I have made about $40 in the past 3 nights of doing ChaCha searches. I think that's pretty fair, especially since I'm only making the training rate of 0.15 per search. I'm generally really enjoying it, too. I can watch TV, talk to my hubby, hang out on Gather, write in my journal, eat dinner, etc. while I'm doing ChaCha searches, so it's not like it takes a lot of out you. The only complaint I have so far is the number of conversational queries I get. You know, questions like: What are you doing? What is your name? Who are you voting for in the election? Do you like to have sex? How many times a day do you have sex? How should I flirt with a guy who already has a girlfriend?
And it just goes on and on and on. Ugh.
I like to answer the questions that area actually questions that need real intelligent answers! Who has the record for highest fielding percentage in MLB? What is the tallest building in the US? Can a goldfinch be kept as a pet in Illinois? What is anemia?
I like questions like that.
I'm going to stick with ChaCha despite the pay decrease. I'm confident that I will remain a top Guide and make the same amount of money that everyone was making before at 0.20 a search. They are also offering bonuses for people who do more than 250 searches in a 24-hour period. EASY PEASY!

Do you really get people who text you just to ask what you are doing? And who are you voting for?
I remember one time I asked a question on my bank's website. I never saw a live chat on a bank website before. I think I asked him 3 times if he was a real person. I thought he was a bot.
Still, I almost always make top guide, so I will just do my best!
The stupid questions do get a bit old. I need to take a break every once in a while because of them!
Sounds like a good company...I'm going to check it out!
