I have been posting a lot of images with few comments. Therefore I decided to try doing a slide show to see if I get more readers. If this turns out well, I will continue to post slide shows about science.
Flavonoids are found in the following foods:
Apricots, bark, black currants, blue and red berries, buckwheat, cherries, elderberry, fruits, grapes, grapefruit, garlic, green tea, green vegetables, hawthorne berry, horsetail, lemons, nuts, oil, oranges, onions, peppers, prunes, rose hips, soy beans, the peels of citrus fruits, and shepherd's purse.
According to orthomolecular.org, flavonoids have antiviral properties, anti-inflammatory properties, fight against infections, maintain the resistance of cell walls to permeation, and have other beneficial properties. The slide show shows some foods that are high in flavonoids. All of these foods are plant foods. Thus the vegan diet is high in flavonoids.
The skin of apples is high in flavonoids.
But why is all of this important? There is evidence that flavonoids have anticancer properties. Experiments have shown that they prevent cancer. Also my own theory is that flavonoids may fight mental illness. My theory is based on the fact that flavonoids are polyphenols. Polyphenols inhibit an enzyme called COMT. This enzyme is thought to create DMPEA from dopamine. DMPEA is a toxin found only in schizophrenics and in the peyote cactus.
Polyphenols are methyl acceptors. Methylation creates DMPEA, which is similar to mescaline in chemical structure.
