My family and I saw The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor on Saturday of this past weekend. I was really looking forward to it as I like Brendan Frasier and have enjoyed the fun of the past movies. After having seen it, however, I'm greatly disappointed. Not in Brendan Frasier as I felt he was doing what Brendan Frasier does in all his movies and he did it well. I'm disappointed in the writers and directors of this movie. It reminded me of a poor mock up of Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade. It also had parts that reminded me of Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. But I wanted to see The Mummy, not bits and pieces stolen from other movies. I also found myself disappointed in the "new" Evie. She was forcing the part to keep the image of the "old" Evie, which can't be done. I missed the "old" Evie, she was great in the part. But if they are going to replace someone, perhaps living true to the character and not the previous actress would be the way to go.
I want to be lost in fantasy when I see a movie, not sitting in a movie theatre waiting for the fun parts to begin and checking my watch to see what time it is. Yes, there were some funny parts, but nothing like previous Mummys.
I'm not giving away the ending, but for those sitting on the fence as to whether to see it or not, I'd spend your money on Batman or Hellboy before this one. Wait for it to come out on DVD.

But with Larry we wait till it comes out on DVD!
Very much like the other ones, high action, fast paced, very fun to watch.
Although I will agree, the new Evie, was not as good as the older one, she did try to make it her own role and not replace the other actress' role. I did like the son though, he was pretty good.
This was supposed to be different, and they did well with it, doing a new style and keeping a good story through it.
I knew that Rachel Weiz wasn't going to be in this movie and I was expecting that but it was lacking something else.
