Yesterday my husband was let go from his job.
We worked at the same company & we pretty much saw it coming, but still it is a shock to take in. Especially since we just got back from our vacation.
They said they were letting him go because there is not enough work for him to do here. We both agree with that, but they slowly kept putting him in lesser positions over the past 6 months. I was upset that they did not let go other people that have been here a shorter period of time than he was (he was here over a year).
We are trying to look at it as a positive thing though. We know that God will be with us through this & will guide us in the correct path. Since we are trying to move back to Minnesota, this may be a blessing for us.
Now we just need to sell our house so we can move! Regardless, we are putting our trust in God and refusing to let this beat us down.
I will be paying more attention to everyone's money saving techniques for sure now & looking for more websites where I can boost our earnings!

He may want to look at doing some temp stuff in the meantime. That's what I would be doing here, but all that is available in this area is industrial-- which, unfortunately, I can't do.
Good luck.
He is going to get unemployment while he is looking, which is awesome - otherwise I might be freaking out a bit more.
Keep us updated.
When I lost my job back in '04, I had been expecting it too. It was still a little scary. But now I know that I have never been happier being able to stay home with the dogs (not to mention I get to hang with my Gather friends all day) and work on projects at home.
Still, it's a hard situation to be in, and I'll keep you in my prayers. Good luck getting everything figured out.
I be send lots of prayers and job vibes your way for your hubby!

I have one thing that might be able to help you, but this takes a few months to get off the ground. I'm making quite a bit of money writing articles online (which I've been building up since January of this year). I recently created a website that has all the sites I write for plus how-to articles, etc. It's all free, and I've been giving it out to my friends and people at church. Here's the site:
http://webwritercentral.googlepages.com/home
Gather is already on there, but you may find the other ones useful that pay through PayPal, etc. Feel free to e-mail me if there's something you have a question about--it's a work in progress as far as explaining all the sites.
Best wishes to you! I'm going to send you a friend request, too. :)
i'm glad you at least hat a nice vacation...
I am so sorry. If it helps, they are saying the economy is starting to get better. I am sorry I know that does not help when you are concerned about your bills
on to something better - Good luck.
We don't believe in god, we believe in getting feet to pavement(or fingers to keyboard). As of Monday, he's got another job in the same field and making more money! His ex-boss gave him a rave recommendation; one of the salesmen he used to work with did the same.
The area he works in is a community, sort of--every one knows everyone, so those recommendations go a long way.
It is a sad state of affairs in our country -everyone knows it.
Don't feel like the lone ranger -there are a lot of us that could fit in his shoes, and have walked this mile. I'm one of them. And, tho' I'm getting nowhere fast, I'm still walking.
Good luck to you both.
I just saw this. I am so sorry to hear this. But you have the right out look. Put it in the Lord's hands and I am sure he will see you through it. Prayers are going up for you from Pittsbugh.
I am soooo sorry to hear that.
I'll think good thoughts.
Wish I could do more than that.
Is the big town the one I was telling you I loved their food At Luby,s it was in the mall then. On the loop as you come into town or leave town. which ever way you are going. there could be jobs in that Mall available. What about Canton First Monday. Maybe have a get rid of unnecessary items sale. Is he handy with his hands to build things.
