One could imagine the situation
A culture hypnotized by TV's ooze inflamed
Addictive wanton stellar sensation
Doubtlessly playing restraining mind games
Belief acts on indivisible agents in warped frozen sun
At least that's what is sold to each and everyone
Who having heard, there are things to hold dear
Or maybe it was cloudy and easy to fear
No matter, if purpose praising vanity needs our name
Just follow giving all, as emptiness has no restraint
Oh why has common sense fallen like bullets to the brain
Have the Sunshine Patriots forgotten vigilance must remain
Not just as an echo that resonates sadly on bottom shelves
For freedom is not an abstract crying just for the self
It can not be manipulated or denigrated by slogans in the air
We hold cherished truths that seek to end all fears of despair
Thirteen stars formed a promised beginning
Red and white stripes binding wounds stout hearts defending
Stalwart they said, let us live out our dream
In a land where freedom's song in hearts truly beat
And harbor not the inequality of tyranny
Brother against brother left anguished screams
That forged from the battle another tragedy
And the scars mended slowly, imperfect democracy
The struggle for the soul of Adam's rib
Maven versus rural roads of culture's white fence
Some gates have opened to hollow remains
For if rights are withheld then so little has changed
Peaceful demonstrations give explanations as we breathe
Freedom, a simple word of inspiration; a generational need
Footsteps are marching to peace or to war
If apathy reigns death knocks at the door
Give us your young for the battlefield needs planting
The falsified cause it may need some redacting
And the hearty song of freedom will fade away
If war becomes the commandment of our parade
Sorrow, sadness, grief and results always the same
Those who cast the first stone are a people of shame
If we are truly the defenders of freedom
Unjust wars will not be fought blaspheming God's name

a lesson still to be learned by the many!
And I am really sick of the media that seems to assume that they have to do our thinking for us. That is just resulting in disinformation. We need to start thinking for ourselves and realizing that the information that we are getting is being given by people with their own agenda.
As to the content, the major part of the poem, our Founding Fathers could not have predicted what the "unwashed masses" would do with this thing, "freedom" that they gave their best efforts to create.
And if we don't know what to do in our "pursuit of happiness," there's always the media to heavily suggest what would make us happy. Great poem, as always!
Thanks.

Common sense will tell us about the "justice" of the cause. And vigilence is about securing the peace, not attacking just in case we might be at a future date.
Powerful verse.
.....Freedom, a simple word of inspiration......these are a few
of you words that touched my senses William. Such truths in
this poem you have penned words that you chose to bring us
to our senses William in a way that no one else could do.
Take good care of you for all of us, love you, Barbie.
don't really need to do. You need to rest and write for
us needed simple truths or great poetry dear man. So
glad that you are getting back to your ole self again.
I wonder whether your recent setback has opened doors to some spaces deep down of you.
This is a poem that had to be written.
"Give us your young for our battleship needs planting." What has happened to us all?
Of course, it was always like this. From the day that Cain killed Abel. We are so good at making wars.
I wish that we devoted as much time and energy to developing our spiritual natures. That we thought more about faith, hope and love.
