A kind fellow tourist obliged us by taking this picture. We're a long way from the tower here. This was the day we arrived, after 20 hours of airports and planes. This is as close as we got that day.
At night, the tower is lit by flood lights and strobes. Currently, the color is blue. This changes from time to time.

Here is a view from the bottom looking up.

The tower is beautiful and fascinating, and I couldn't look at it enough! I noticed from the number of other people there, they couldn't either.

>The tower is so beautiful, it was hart to take my eyes off it. Judging from the number of people there, it was hard for everyone.

The view from Pont D'Iena.

Finally, we queue up, pay our 24€ admission, and pass through security. The sign says watch out for pickpockets in four languages.

The machinery is fascinating.

Going up!

A view of the Champ de Mars from the top. The tower in the background is the Tour Montparnasse.
After looking at everything and drinking a chocolat viennoise, it's time to go back down.

The Tour Eiffel is amazing, beautiful, and worth seeing. Completed for the Universal Exhibition in 1889, it was intended to stand for 10 years. Thank heaven it's lasted much longer.
The view from the Trocadero.
A bientôt!

Your photo essay a la Tour Eiffel is Featured in le Club de la Triple Nom.
One night I could not sleep so I walked from the Hotel
du Crillon the Place De Concord to the Eiffel Tower.
The tower was lit with its normal reddish glow, but on
the hour the strobe lights would go off. and it got
all sparkly as well. Then at 1am the normal lights
went off and just the sparkley lights were on before
they turned everything off.
On the way back I took the elevators up and walked all
the way down, and that is a long walk.
What a beautiful city. I posted a shot but not as spectacular as yours.
Eiffel Tower as seen from the Arc De Triumph
The day before I went up the tower, I had walked down a mountain near Grenoble that had steps, if you can believe that! down the entire mountain. My legs were shot after that and the small amount of walking down the Tour Eiffel the next day caused great pain. So Bruce, how were your legs after such a long descent?
I had to laugh when I saw your photo essay. I've seen it before; when my brother and I were in Paris, he took pictures of the Eiffel Tower obsessively and when we got our pictures back, I realized he had taken 20 rolls of film devoted solely to the Tower!
Frankly, yours are better shots, but don't tell my brother I said so. LOL.
Lovely pics by the way!
Your wonderful photo essay is featured on SKYWARD , thanks for sharing.
