Everyone is trying to be more frugal these days. Gas prices is affecting prices on everything that we use. One way to be frugal is to make your own cleaners. One way to make a frugal window & mirror is:
2 cups water
3 TBS vinegar
1/2 tsp dish detergent (liquid)
Then I use newspapers crumbled up to wipe the cleaner. The newspaper will not streak like paper towels and cost nothing.
There are many other recipes you can use to make your own window cleaner but this one is effective. It is made from items you already have on hand and it is very cheap to make.

I too use newspapers for wiping glass and mirrors. Much cheaper than paper towels and they don't leave the fuzzy lint behind that paper towels do.
Sandy, you might have to pay for the paper first, but it is something that normally doesn't have many other uses and most people just throw away without using it for other things first.
Can others help adding uses for read newspapers?
Cleaning glass and mirrors
Lining bird cages or pet carriers
Rolling up and making 'fire logs'
Starting fires in fireplaces
What else?
To add to Sonia's list,
use them for packing material whether moving or shipping.
They make a great biodegradable weed cover
You can also use papers to form into pots for seed starting. They sell little forms, but I just wet it and shape it around a terra cotta pot and when it is dry, you have you little pot. When it comes time to transplant the seedling, you can just plant the whole thing. no muss, no fuss.
Just thought I'd weigh in. Thank you so much for this recipe Connie. I just posted a link to it from my Frugal Living: Dollar store duds and deals post where we started talking about window-washing liquid. Thanks again. I'll be using this one myself as time goes on. I like the fact that it's all natural.
