I have been walking a lot in Washington DC last week, going from one agency to another to get my daughter Kyleigh's passport and VISA and what-not. I saw a lot of pedestrians running red lights, jaywalking, littering, and doing all kinds of "bad things". In some cases, they were doing this right in front of the policemen sitting in their police cars. But I guess these "minor offenses" have become so natural that no one cares any more.
I just had a crazy thought. If we can have a "National Cheesecake Day" and a "National Ice Cream Day" to celebrate the delicious treats, why don't we have a "National Law Obeying Day" to celebrate the rules that meant to make our lives easier?
That way, just for one day, there would be no car accidents from red light running (that includes pedestrians running red lights too), and cleaner streets. Oh, wait a minute. I was only thinking about the minor laws that nobody cares. If everyone truly obeys all the laws, then we would have no victim of stealing, robbery, rape, or murder... Wouldn't that be nice!?
Yeah, I said I was crazy.
