This is merely a little sidebar in the research project I am currently undertaking regarding the Anthrax Attacks and the Bush Administration's (and John McCain's) assertions that Iraq was behind them. CLICK
The attacks turned out to be an inside job if you can believe the FBI.
Without getting too much on the focus of my project I will say that I found that hidden in the vast expanse that is the mainstream media there are actually articles from as far back as 2002 that followed the Anthrax Investigation as it unfolded and showed that the FBI did pinpoint the source of the anthrax used in the attacks very early on and found that it was from a Biodefense lab at Fort Detrick, Maryland, and despite these articles being written, they seemed to be ignored largely by most of the mainstream media or in the case of the right-wing media they were aware of the fruits of the investigation and were lambasting the FBI for not focusing on finding a foreign perpetrator instead of a homegrown one having believed the black propaganda released to ABC News about a certain additive that was non-existent in the anthrax used in the attacks that would have been indicative of the Iraqi bioweapons program- undoubtedly the "evidence" John McCain was referencing, the source of which ABC News will not divulge.
Back to what this post is really about, I came across this article written by US News/Fox News correspondent, Michael Barone: Khalid Sheik Mohammed Confesses, wherein he takes KSM's confession as a victory in the "War on Terror" as KSM confesses to not only planning 9/11, but also planning the first attack on the WTC, the Richard Reid shoebomber attack, THE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON POPE JOHN PAUL II, and among other things the Anthrax Attacks.
Considering all the bad information that has been coming out of the Bush Administration is it any wonder that they have resorted to torture to get evidence to justify their ends?

The Daschle Letter
(Correction August 4, 2008: Upon recent learning and contrary to what the mainstream media is relaying from the information given to them by government sources, Dr. Ivins was NOT about to be charged. He became the FBI's top suspect and the investigators notified his attorney that charges were imminent which allegedly prompted the already troubled Dr. Ivins to commit suicide. The truth is that charges were not imminent and that the decision would have had to have gone through a grand jury first. People who personally knew and admired Dr. Ivins have come out to say not only can they not believe he did it, but that they could not possibly concieve how he could have figured out a way to sneak the Anthrax out. They believe he was smart enough to not use a substance that could be so easily traced back to him considering what he did for a living. It is worthy to note that the evidence against Dr. Ivins is at best circumstantial.)

Not to say that he wasn't involved (I would certainly have no clue) but it just doesn't seem to add up. The letters that accompanied the anthrax mailers contained references to Islam, and there seems to be no connection between Ivins and Islamic thought.
Then there is the issue of how Ivins would have smuggled the materials out and then weaponized it without infecting himself. Where's the secret home laboratory?
I know terrorists talk that way in movies, but I don't know about real life.
I've also been hearing more about how the White House pushing for information to be suppressed or manipulated to suit the goal of invading Iraq. Sadly, because of 43 and company, we may never know the real truth about all this.
