When she asks, I am transported to a place Where she is six once again Cajoling with no effort Tilted smile to melt the ice caps I cannot deny her I never have learned that skill But I know the look Knowing, something needs to be said Something profound? Something dark and sinister? Something gay and frivolous? Something earth shattering? Imagination takes flight As I complete her request Anticipation of what is to come Dread fills every pore She would not ask Without reason or cause An occasion to be met With laughter? With tears? With anger? "Did you?" she asks "I did." I respond Again, that smile, that innocence Transporting me back a lifetime ago She only asks on special occasions Like birthdays, or heartbreaks Or guilty of something Love in a 9 by 13 pan Lasagna, only Momma's will do You're WHAT? Tears, laughter, elation Hugs, handshakes, and high-fives Yes, lasagna was the only choice I hope he has her smile.

I remember when lasagna used to make things better.
Thanks everyone. Your kind words . I appreciate it greatly.
(so when am i getting this lazagna?)
lol
When you learn to spell it, honey!!!
Your poet muse, lives deep in side of you, and has crawled out to captivate us all.
I for one, will call you the Poet Queen.
I bow down to your skills.
One of you best poems. I especially love the way you placed poignant words in some rather unexpected places.
10 from your lover man.
what fun!
Nicely done!
