Okay, everyone. Here is a hint: Jennifer N. is partially right with thinking it is a mold of some sort. Vern R is partially right in thinking that it is the inside of a wall. Marilyn is partially right in thinking it has something to do with cement/concrete although it's not a bridge. Marianne is partially right in that it has something to do with construction. Elaine is not correct at all in thinking it's a bread mixer. LOL. Vicky is right in that it has a type of rebar in it. Kelly is not correct either. Tanya: The whole process might be masochistic but it's not a bed of nails. Would everyone like an additional picture to go with this one?

The concrete will be poured into this form/mold, which will then become a retaining wall near Pam's (whoever Pam may be)! Yeah another shot might be helpful!

Vern: You are so close that I'm tempted to just give it to you but let's see if I can get you to be just a little more specific since I went ahead and posted the second picture. It's not for a retaining wall but for something a bit more complex. It's not just a form/mold but is actually used and left in the construction site as a permanent fixture. It is both internal and external. If you can figure out what material it is made out of it may give you a huge clue as to what it is used for.

This particular type of construction is still relatively new, Toni. Not that many people have heard of it. You might want to be ready with a link for those who might be interested in investigating it further.

Alright, here goes: It is foam block material, that will be used to "build" a whole house, the holes allow concrete to be poured in, and utilities (like electrical conduit or pipes ) to be placed in the walls. When the foam blocks are in place, concrete gets poured in the interior of the foam for strength and stability, the exterior side gets finished with stucco or siding, it all is nicely insulated due to all the foam, and it costs less and lasts longer than wood frame, or slab concrete construction. Perfect for cool climate areas like the mountains.
