My take on today's California Earthquake

I sure felt this one.It felt like the ground was rolling, like a wave. I did not feel any of the aftershocks. Just the 5.8 one, until later in the day.
It had to be pretty big.  I am about 100 miles away from Chino Hills, the area of LA it was centered in.
The really big ones are scary. This was just short of that. I have been through a few that have been 7.0 or higher, and roughly the same distance away.
 Since I have been through many earthquakes in general, the smaller type do not bother me much. Some of that may be from living near a military base.The windows often shook in my home growing up.

 Earthquakes of any magnitude can be scary. The fact that there is no warning can be unnerving.
At least with a hurricane or storm you know its coming. You get a weather report, or can see & feel it coming.
Two earthquakes have startled me awake at 5 am. Those really scare me.
Today I had to laugh. I happened to be home for this one.
I was sitting on my bed, watching a show with my son.
I yelled at him to stop wiggling his feet. ( that he had hanging off the edge of the bed) He said, " MOM, I am NOT even moving." A few seconds later a news update broke into the show, saying there had been an earthquake. He said, " SEE MOM!"
We both burst out laughing.
Another notch on the scale and I get really nervous.
This may have been frightening for anyone closer to Chino Hills.

I have heard from a few others on here today about this, glad you're okay. We live on a fault line and I'm in the south. We've had tremors before, once I got knock down but there was no major damage reported in the area but I felt that tremor. I hope we never get a big one, hope you don't either.

We do have bad storms and tornado activity around us, but an earthquake really, really scares me. I'm glad this was not destructive. Glad you are all right.

I live in Illinois, and we have had earthquakes on the 3-5 scale & it does feel as if someone is shaking your bed. I can only imagine a bigger one.

The intensity and length varied on location and ground type. We got hit pretty good.
