Getting To Know You Question 7/29/08

Today's question...

My question today was inspired by the GATHER AFTER DARK  "Paranormal State" chat last night here on Gather.

 

Do you believe in ghosts and the paranormal?

 

I personally do not. I have had several things happen in my life but I have always believed that although I personally do not have an explanation that there is a logical or scientific explanation for it. I do however believe in angels and that everyone has a guardian angel.

I've never really believed in them, but I love watching the show Ghost Hunters. Kinda weird combo. Some of the stuff on there makes ya think though.

I believe in angels and demons - they are both spirits created by God. Angels are on the side of God, demons fell with the devil and work with him to do evil.

I do believe in ghosts.. or at least I believe in the possibility of them, since I've never actually seen one. We always said we had a ghost in our house growing up because of strange things that would go on..but could be a logical explanation for them, since noone ever felt a "presence" or saw him.. So, I don't 100% know for sure until I see real proof...but I definitley think it could be true.

I like Patricia believe in spirits, not necessarily ghosts. I have seen things that I will never be able to explain because I know like others saw it, but there was nothing physical there.

If you believe in angels, how can you not believe in spirits? That's all angels are. I have had many experiences with 'ghosts' and have lived with them in several different homes in the past. Sorry, but scientific explanations just don't cut it with some things. Just because 'man' doesn't understand them and labels them something else doesn't mean they don't exist. Since we all consist of energy and energy cannot be destroyed, you can't tell me we all go to heaven or hell immediately after we die. Our souls are all different, so some stay here on earth while others go to 'the great beyond'.

I believe in ghosts. One lives in my old house, and there's one in my boyfriend's mom's house. Both houses date back to the civil war and there have definitely been some strange things that have happened in the houses.

yeah I do. No one who has ever been in the prison site of Andersonville GA (where over 13000 Union prisoners died in 11 months from 1864-1865) at night can doubt that.

I'm not sure how to describe my belief in ghosts. I kind of do in a sense, but in another I think they're spirits. As for other paranormal stuff, some of it can be explained, but others can't. One mystery that has always interested me is the Jersey Devil. I've read up on it a bit including old newspaper articles, its very intriguing.

Rob- I am am not saying that there are not ghosts. I don't know if there are or not. What I am saying is that nothing I have ever seen has made me believe that there are and what I have seen I think can be explained.

Charles - Being there may just be the thing to change my mind.

Yes, I do believe in certain paranormal things and I do believe in ghosts too. I believe that we only use a certain amount of our brain and the rest of it is capable of so much more that we may never know.

as an individual that has "the gift" as some are like to call it(and it functions of its own sweet volition--not when i want it too) yes i believe in a certain amount of the paranormal and spirits(ghosts) if you will, after what i've experienced it would be very hard not to.

Chris you contradict yourself so well, by saying you do not believe in ghosts but you do believe in angels, which neither requires or has any real scientific proof of existing, but we all know we have prophetic hunches, clairvoyant tendencies, clairaudient conversations with self and the uncanny attention of how our body feels good or bad today and how we can improve that.

Erica I did not contradict myself. I believe in angles because I believe they come from God but I really did not want to get into that and turn this into a debate about if there is a god or not. People can believe ther eis a god and there are angles and not believe in ghosts just as people can believe there are ghosts and no god or angles.

I know there are things I cannot explain. I believe in Angels. I know i have been in a house that actually was able to track the ghost that "stayed'. My mom drew a picture of the person she saw, and through county records they found out that a farmer had died when he was roofing the house one day. I don't know.

I don't believe in ghosts per say.. But, I do believe that there are spirits that watch over us from heaven. I don't believe in aliens, vampires, witches, etc.
But, I do believe in possibilities.

I have seen too much not to believe. I used to give a lantern ghost tour in Colonial Williamsburg, and the things I saw there just really cemented my beliefs. I think they are spirits that stuck around after death for one reason or another.

I have never "Seen" a ghost nor do I believe most of the people who say they have seen a ghost but I do not discount the posibility of their existence. I do believe in Angels (and therefor demons though I'd rather not dwell on them) and that they do visit some people. So I guess I believe in ghosts or spirits if you prefer.

I don't believe in ghosts and goblins. I do not "see dead people." However, I do believe certain supernatural occurrences, and that there are things that "man" cannot explain.

Good question. Yes, I believe in ghosts because my family and I lived in a house in the country with a couple of very sweet ghosts who became like part of our family.

Yes, we lived in a house for a while with a spirit that did a variety of things. We kept trying to explain the incidents in logical ways, then finally admitted it was the ghost. Then, I saw a spirit wearing a robe with a hood in church one evening--a number of people saw that spirit over the years.

I personally do believe in them. I have had some things happen to me, that there is no way to explain other then it was someone from the other side. Plus twice my grandfather has come to my mom in the middle of the night to wake her and let her know something was going to happen. The first time it happened my uncle lost his arm, that happened the next day. The second time one of my other uncles was almost killed the next day when he totalled out his car. No other way to explain them things.

I do believe in ghosts but I think they should really be called Angels an demons. I've had experiences where I've seen things. Occasionally I've seen them in people and wandering about and sometimes I can feel them. I don't care to see them or feel them but I do.

For those who say you believe in Angels but not Ghosts remember there can be NO GOOD without EVIL, NO Angels and God if you don't also believe in God's word that Satan and Evil exsist.
Paranormal State is my favorite show to watch---I never miss it so I was sad to learn I missed the discussion about it.....being at the hospital all day with tests does that to a body so I slept through it---sorry.
Personally I DO believe in Ghost/spirits/demons/spooks etc....becuase I have WITNESSED THEM MYSELF as a former non-beliver, it didn't take but the few times to make me into a believer real fast....I have also been on ghost hunts, being a Sensative I guess I was born to believe but I faught it for so long that I eventually gave in and am the happier for it....so my answer would be; YES I BELIEVE.

Having has an explanation to it -- What once was Magic is now called Science. But that doesn't mean that there are not Ghosts & Goblins ( and all the others too numerous to list ) -- just that we don't know what they all really are yet. Convoluted true but true non the less.

I haven't seen anything but have heard things in two different places both times footsteps in two public buildings when I was alone at the time and knew no one else was in the buildings. there are alot of unknowns in this world for someone not to believe in the supernatural or paranormal.
