WHAT'S WRONG WITH PEOPLE?

I don't mean what's wrong with some individuals or even some groups of people; I mean what's wrong with mankind taken as a whole.  The answer is, there is nothing wrong with the human race, perhaps just our limited perception of it.

If you believe in God, and that includes the vast majority of people worldwide, then you know that He is the Creator of man, that He has a plan for man's developement and a destiny for him to achieve.

If you have studied the history of man on this planet you know that he has made significant progress in various fields since the cave days.  His progress is so obvious that there is no need to present a recap here. 

Just like the individual, mankind passes through various stages - infancy, childhood, adolescence and finally, maturity.  Looking at mankind as a whole we see that he is now in the juvenile state, and as such behaves much as a juvenile does.

Evidence of man's state of immaturity is paraded before our eyes and ears day after day on national television as well as in our own personal lives.  Anyone who is awake and aware can site dozens of examples of humanity's immature behavior.  Again there is no need to present a recap here.

Thank God mankind is rapidly approaching maturity.  When it does, and it won't be long now, we will see many changes and improvements in human relationships.  Be patient with our fellow-man as God is patient with us, and be content with the Will of God.

Very true, Thomas. But with so many "teenagers" in the "house" its hard to bear.

Yes, Donald. However those of us who have matured beyond the teenage years can better understand teenage behavior and hence be forgiving.

I don't agree with you on this. Yes, mankind has definitely progressed in the way of technology, but have we really gone anywhere as far as violence and crime? I don't think so and I don't think we ever will. People are people and always will be.

Now, when you say "mankind," do you mean just the ones who pee standing up? Because if you're including those of us who pee sitting down, then we prefer to be called "humankind." 'Cause the boys don't seem to like it when I use "womankind" as an all-inclusive term. Thanks.

I am not sure if mankind will ever reach maturity. Our lifestyles, television, movies and the like, are preventing us from maturing as a species. Many youth, not all, but a majority feel life owes them everything and that they have no sense of responsibility toward their country or their fellowman. We have become selfish, arrogant and self-centered. A day has come where ME and MINE is all that seems to count.

Sarah: Yes, people are people, but children grow up. People mature, society matures. That's the trend. There is absolutely nothing that says mankind will not change, that he is stuck in the 21st century.

The dictionary shows several meanings for the word 'man', the first of which is 'a human being', 'a person'. So there is no need to make up fancy, politically correct words to cover both genders equally. 'Man' incorporates both genders. 'Human' incorporates the word 'man'. 'Mankind' includes the word 'man'. 'Person' includes the word 'son' - a male. So the most politically correct words would be 'huperkind'. Or perhaps 'ass' would do. One definition of 'ass' is 'a stupid or silly person' of either gender.

Ah, but I am a fan of optimism. My point was just that it's nice to see someone else show it. I think we've hung on here all these years because we *can* do the right things... and sometimes we do.

Yes, Tracy. Look at the European Union as an example of mankind's maturity. Twenty or so nations who have been waging war against each other for centuries come together and agree to establish a parliament, a common passport and a common currency as well as laws and standards equally applicable in all areas of the Union - an unheard of and unimaginable development just a few generations ago. Future war among these same nations is now unthinkable.

The best students are the best teachers, as proven in this article. Thankfull, Man begins with Ma. I suspect a cyclic harvest of soul graduates to be around fifty percent in the end of great ages, where the others recyle to try again. Good god is the ultimate love, or an impostor will subvert the subjects. Thank you!

Mary J.: You are not alone. Many of us feel the same way. I think it comes from being more mature as a human being. So many people are caught up in the trivialities of life. But that is just the maturation of the human race. Some of us are ahead of our times and some of us are behind our times. Most are just caught up in the whirl of our times. But we will mature in general as time goes by... en-shah-llah.

An interesting article. While the vast majority believe in God, the jury's still out on which god that is.

With the worlds billons split 33% Christian, 21% Islamic, 14% Hindu, and more... may I suggest we're spending too much time trying to prove which is right, and not enough time living peacefully with our fellow man.

Agreed, there is nothing wrong with people! And mankind is striving for maturity but we've still got a long way to go! It may take severe trauma for mankind to accept maturity.
