Reasons Not to Call 911

I just ran across this great website.  It's these people that call into 911 with just weird or stupid things.  As far as I can tell they are actual 911 calls.  You can actually listen to them.  Here's the website:

These poor 911 operators.  It's amazing what they have to put up with.

Thanks for posting. I tend to call 911 when I see accidents. One time it was weird. A car was on fire, still sticking out in the road and abandoned. I called 911 and they said FHP was dealing with it and was surprised it was unattended. I expressed concern another car would hit it, ...no flares...barracades...FHP must have got another call or something, so they sent another patrol out.

Every once in a while you hear about someone who could not get through to 911 and hope it wasn't one of these inappropriate calls that was taking the operator's time.

I heard one of these calls on TV where a woman called 911 to complain about a taco place not giving her $1 back for not receiving a $1 taco and was demanding that an officer come to either give her $1 back or a taco. Unbelievable!

There was a field fire we could not get thru to 911. Other cars stopped and also tried to call 911. The wind came up and spread the fire more. I ran to the closest house banged on the door, No one home.

Finally 2 drivers went to two different fire stations 8-10 miles away, They got one fire truck. By that time two homes were threatened.

I really loved the little boy Brandon who was calling about his "Grandma," he was a real sweetie and the lady with the taco needs professional help if indeed she was not drunk - she has problems upon problems.

My boyfriend is a cop, so I know quite a few of the dispatchers at his precinct. I find some of the stories they tell beyond amusing. He works at a college campus, so many of the calls are called in by either students or professors. It really makes me wonder how they got accepted to college in the first place.

My son drove ambulances for a while. He told me there's lots of really weird calls, then added that no matter how good my imagination, I'd never know which unlikely calls would turn out to be serious.

I think cell phones are a dangerous thing for this, I passed out in a parking lot, and when I came to, there were five men all with cell phones calling 911, thank goodness only one ambulance arrived, but five police cars came, and I felt so silly, just a little thing, three days later passed out again, this time a pacemaker, lol, not that silly then.
