He said it would be a 2 Hour Job.....

Well as you know demolition did not go as expected.  My handyman thought it would be a 2-3 hour job MAX.....He spent 2 hours yesterday and 7.5 hours today demoing the bathroom.  It is done but oh my......Let me share what happened today

The first half hour he cut himself on the steel mesh wire in the walls and was bleeding profusely.

He then broke the tank of toilet...(at this point I left for church)

I came back to more cuts in his arms.....water spewing from the broken pipe leading to the toilet.

He went to Ace Hardware 3 times to get parts for the pipes he broke...

Needless to say he had the day from hell.

The toilet does not work at all as you can see in the pics it is just resting on wood over the hole in the floor....I really wanted the toilet to keep working through all this...he said it can be used just not as we are used to......eiiiwwwwww.

So here are the demoed pictures.....I think I will buy a new house before I ever attempt to construction again!!!

This is just my opinion Danielle, but your problem was not the work you had done, but who you chose to do it. Was this man bonded? Will he be resonsible for damages done to your home? (like the broken toliet?)

He was actually doing me a favor. He did it because my Dad is coming up from Fla to rebuild everything for me. My Dad just can't do the grunt work anymore. He is not licensed or bonded but he is a licensed electrician. What he did was fine for my circumstances. My Dad is a licensed general contractor and he will rebuild it all for me.

That type of work somehow is never as easy as it seems it should be....hang in there...I have always found it to be worth it..

You've had a few problems but now things are back on track. Your Dad will be able to fix anything so I would say you're good to go. There might have been difficulties but the demo is finished so now it's Daddy's turn.

Sounds like it's a mess right now. However, when it's all said and done and you have your bathroom the way you want it, it will be well worth the mess for a while.

I appreciated your sympathy for the man who did the work. Sometimes we just have bad days and until we get into a project we can't know how bad it is. Anyway it will be done and you will enjoy the new room.

I bet he was wishing he never agreed to the job! He must have been embarrassed by the fact that everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Keep your sense of humor about this and it will get you through.
