"BB, this is Princess Rose." said Grandma Honey.
"Hi, I'm BB, I'm five, wanna play with me?"
Ignoring his request the cute, five year old, towheaded girl gave a sideways glance and then scampered toward her original destination, the swimming pool.
Apprehensive of water, BB pulled at his life jacket, checking the straps before stepping gingerly into the pool. Grabbing a nearby water gun, he tried it out by squirting water high into the air deciding this swimming stuff sure was fun.
SPLAT and SPLAT again! Wow this was fun, until a splat landed smack dab in the face of Princess Rose. Oooops! SPLAT, SPLAT, back! Laughter, giggles, smiles. The water fight was on! When it ended, the Princess, said,
"Come look, BB, I have a present for you."
"Mom, Mom, Princess Rose has a present for me!" as they headed toward the nearby garage.
Inside Princess showed him her baby kitties, then walked over to her Daddy's tool bench and said, "This is a hamner, look! Now hold it. Here is a shrewdriver, hold this too." Tool after tool was examined carefully then explained, BB stood there, listening attentively.
Leaving the garage a short time later, they were observed heading back toward the pool hand in hand.
"Did you see that?", asked Mommy.
"Yes, we did!" exclaimed the two giggling Grandma's in unison.
Impressing the towhead, BB, was soon getting his face wet, bobbing in water over his head and started showing her some fine, athletic backstroke maneuvers. Barely able to take time to feast on hotdogs and chips the two's afternoon of fun and splats ended toward sundown.
"BB, it's time to go home!"
A look of overwhelming sadness appeared on both their faces.
"On, no Mom, no, I wanted to stay and play with my friend Princess Rose."
"But BB, its time, you two can play again soon."
With tears forming, he asked, "When?"
"Soon, honey."
Glancing sideways and seeing the distraught look on BB's face, the Princess quietly, stepped directly in front of him, lifted her arms to his shoulders and kissed him innocently on the lips.
Our ride back home was quiet.
"BB, did you have fun today?"
"Ohhh yes Granny, I did. Today I met the most beautiful girl."
Innocence.
