Hmmm... interesting questions.... unfortunately I know no answers to these....... =)

Im gonna go with #6 and say it's due to retirement funds, social security, pension and other income we don't have when younger..

Interesting questions.

1. mainly pesticides of some sort. My boyfriends grandparents grow their own grapes with no filmy stuff on them.

Jessica, the pesticides is the answer to question number one. Go Organic, no pesticides, no films. Not to mention te more people that go organic the more secure my job is :-)

I think you look right in photos. My husband got a slide of his father in backwards in the slide projector and his Dad looked like his Uncle Jimmy... We never realized they were reverse versions of one another

3) I wish I knew.
4) They want it to sound as much like a burger as possible so people will try them, I think.
6) When we are active we spend more money and make less.
7) It smells good to them...lol.
8) They wear diapers during launch and re-entry. They have a special toilet for the rest of the time.
9) They usually do sleep standing up, but occasionally will lie down. They only sleep an average of 20 minutes-2 hours a day.
10) I'm scary enough in photos and the mirror, anymore real and I would have to wear a bag....lol.

#9- Sleep standing up, cannot lie down for any length of time, it's really hard on the lungs once an adult, it's difficult to get back up. Females give birth standing up, it's a 6ft drop to the ground for baby- but breaks the birth cord, and wakes the kid up. They are up on their feet within minutes, have to be, predators i.e. lions, will eat them otherwise.

4) A veggie burger looks like a hamburger but there are places that do use the term veggie patty.

#7 It's instinct. Wolves roll in dung to mask their smell when they are hunting. Dogs still have the instinct to roll in stuff to mask their scent too.

10 - I've thought about this too. It does't really freak me out, but it does bother me to some extent.

What white film on grapes? I work in the Produce at my store, and the shipments get unloaded off the truck and into our cooler. and when the worker goes to get the product...the packing and shipping companies have bubble wrap and paper and the like stuffed in the boxes with the product, I guess to help protect it so it doesn't get smashed in shipment.

but, when we put product out, we leave the bubble wrap and such in the box, and toss the boxes out later, only having the product on the shelf.

maybe this is what it is? maybe the people at your local store are putting the protective shipping film out with the product? I tell you what is worse. the plastic and paper that comes inside of a banana box, the tissue paper gets stuck to the banana's and makes a mess, so you have to pull tissue paper off the banana's. and I guess how they are shipped from the companies like dole and chiquita to the stores, somewhere along the ways the banana's literally sweat. they get little water beads on them...and that makes the tissue paper wet..and as such that much more messy. and unfortunately is nothing to do with the produce worker or the produce department. its all on how the companies choose to ship and pack their products.

oh you mean on the grapes themselves in the bags? yeah I oft times wondered what it is too, I would hazard a guess and go with Adelaide M, and Bob C. companies who mass produce fruits and veggies have a lot to lose fruit and veggies = money to these companies so they take precautions against insects and other things and spray pesticides on them. that is why you should always wash your fruits and veggies before consuming them. not to mention I think you would want to anyway if you actually stood around and saw the types of people that pick through them. or you can pay a little bit more and by certified organic produce without the chemicals on them. however, as a matter of perception I have noticed that in comparison organic produce doesnt seem to grow to be as big or as plump or as juicy as its mass produced counterparts. and the mass farmed chemical stuff seems to have a slightly better shelf life than the organics. but its your call. Just some friendly advice from your local neighborhood produce clerk :-D

and when i say "pick through them" im not talking about the farmers and the pickers just so you know, I mean the people at the market. ive seen people touching fruits and veggies going through them looking for some to buy, and seriously contemplate if they have bathed recently. you don't have to worry about your produce clerk though, we are trained in proper handling, at my store we have a sink in the back of our work area fully stocked with soaps and hand cleaners. and im sure other stores have them too. so we are handling your produce properly. that doesnt mean other customers are though, so again, WASH, WASH, WASH your food before eating it.

Good questions. I have seen a place that sells individual cigarettes.

1) What is the weird white film on grapes that you get from the grocery store?
I am pretty sure that it is a pesticide. Grapes are known for being one of the most highly treated.

2) Why are cigarettes sold 20 to a box and not 10, 15, or even 30? And why don't they sell individual cigarettes?
Guess it isn't worth it to do less. I don't know why it isn't more. Maybe that is the perfect amount for creating addiction without doing too much harm (if there is such a thing with cigs?)

3) Why is it always so freakin' cold in the movie theater?
They figure you paid enough so they can afford to jack up the AC.

4) Why is a veggie burger called a "burger?" Why isn't it called a veggie patty?
I wonder why a hamburger is called such...since it isn't HAM. Wikipedia says that a synonym of "burger" is "patty".

5) Why is there always some mysterious wet puddle in the middle of public restrooms?
gross, huh? I wonder too.

6) Why is it that when we are young and active we are poor, but when we get old and can't get around as well we have more disposable income?

7) Why do dogs like to find the grossest possible thing and roll in it?
My dog, thankfully never does this! But I know dogs that do and it baffles me.


8) How do astronauts go to the bathroom while on the space shuttle?

10) Does it freak anyone else out to realize that you will never know what you REALLY look like... only a reversed image in a mirror or on a camera, never how people REALLY see you?

It doesn't freak me out but I have thought about it before.
