We had three campsites next to each other, all with water access. All of our children are tenters and there were various sizes and various shaped tents all around us.
We had a fair amount of rain the first day so the water was high, the current strong and tubing on the river was FANTASTIC.

In this photo you can just barly see the kids coming down the river on inner-tubes.
They look like rocks in the river.

My son Jamie is the first to reach our camp.

Elaine's Jenny is having a blast flying down the river.

Jessie is next and she sits in the tube. Compared to those that lay down on the tube.

My son Bill and daughter Christina are next.

Bill, rarely seen without hat and shades...even in the river.

Elaine's Kate is pregnant so instead of traveling the river, she tethered her tube to a tree with a long rope and happily floated around our campsite waiting for the others to come down the river. When some of the group continued on down the river for the full ride, Kate hopped into her truck and drove to the end of the campground to give them a ride back to camp.

Gathering in the river at our camp site to decide who will go on down the river and who will stay...

Laughter!

River conversations.

The construction team is building the dam and pool for the moms to enjoy for their two week holiday. The kids were there for just the first few days. (Jamie far right underwater), Jake (with a sunburn from riding his bike to camp the day before) Bill with the pan in hand and Kate adding inukshuks to the dam.
That pool was a joy to us for the two weeks we were camping. With the news that the river flooded this week, I imagine our pool if full of rocks again.

Christina watching her mom watch her.

Our kids are beginning to decorate the river with inukshuks.

Our Camp Insanity Reunion Official Photo 2008 taken by Jessie's camera.
First Row is Jessie with Adi her pooch named for the Adirondack mountains and her mom Elaine.
Second row is Kristy, my son Jamie's girlfriend (a first timer to camp insanity), my Jamie, Elaine's Kate ( pregnent with the twins), Me holding my camera so I didn't get a shot of this group, my son Bill and daughter Christina.
Top Row is Jake, Jessie's husband and Jenny (Elaine's oldest daughter)
Having all the kids there at the same time was a blast. It was fun for us moms to sit and listen to their stories and tales. It was fun seeing them interact as adults. It was fun to have the kids take over the main meals for the weekend and pitch in so willingly with chores and clean up. It was fun to be surrounded with their laughter again
But then, no matter what, Camp Insanity always has been fun!

Looks like a great time! We did something similar when I was a little kid here in Missouri.
This article is featured in !! ~*~ Photos ~*~ !!.
When I lived on the South Edisto River in SC, tubers would go to a ramp a few miles up river from us and float down to a "country club camp" several river bends below us....our river was pretty swift and it was a lot of fun to sit on our terrace and wach them float by below us.
Thanks so much for posting this to
my group
Blessings always...

It's always fun with the family, while going for outdoor camping; at least I could see it's true for you.
