A Few Gather Questions From a Newbie

Hey everyone!  I have been here at Gather since July 15.  Here are my questions...

 In order to reach the 3,000-point cash option, do I have to make 3,000 points before July 31 or before 30 days of membership or just within 30 days period??

 

Are there any tips y'all can give me to gather more points consistently?  I mean, I know they don't tell us exactly what earns points, but it would be nice to know which things DO get people a few points.  Not just for myself, but I want to know what to do for other people.  Like....  Do my friends/other gather members get more points if I post a comment or leave a 10 rating?  Do they get more or less points if I ask them to be on my friends?

 

I have 163 points right now.  Is that a normal amount in 1 week?  I have no idea and nothing to compare it to!  lol!

 

Also, once I get to the cash option here at Gather, where exactly do I go or what do I do to qualify for that and request it?

 

Lastly, I am REALLY enjoying Gather!  At first, I thought I was just going to be here for the points and the GCs.  These perks are really cool, but, since I have been here, I have realized that there is just so much cool stuff to read!  I find that it is almost like one big giant community blog!  I read about other people's lives, what they like, what they don't like, etc.  I'm so glad I joined here!  Now I have a place to broadcast my own random musings on life as well as read others!

 

If anyone has answers or suggests to the above questions, I'd really appreciate any info you might have.  Thanks everyone!

It needs to be 3000 in one month, the first to the last day. Not 30 days. :-)

I recommend getting as many friends as you can, they are really where the points and perks are! :-)

Videos are the other big ticket items.

The last couple of days have been kind of screwy. No way you'll be able to make it right now. But, hit it hard in August and you should make it with no problem.

You always have next month Jessica. It very hard, unless you like on Gather to get the 3000 points in two weeks. So write down your points on the first and get 3000 more in the month of Aug. Ghostly gave some great advice. Lots of connections and join groups of your interest and videos. I have a page, if you would like to find somewhere to start. lol Good luck.

I agree with Ghostly.. get as many friends now as possible and try to stick with their content.. and they will come to yours!

Another thing.. Have things we can rate and comment on! Plenty of pictures and articles.. Im not a big gamer but Im up for normal everyday life articles.. you could do an article about yoursefl so when people come to meet you they can get to know you even better and more will be apt to leave a comment..

Join some groups! Many group moderators leave a generic comment "copy and paste comment" on all your stuff you send to their groups..

Theres some "point whore groups" that are good at commenting back

you can search "3000" That will give you some peoples names who are also trying to reach 3000 so then you can help each other :)

I agree with others above, you'll have better success waiting until August. However, I would recommend making a screen print/capture of your earnings total at the beginning of the month as verification of your starting point.

Reading the content of others and publishing content that engages conversation with members from across the community seems to be a successful combination.

Yes, definitely wait until August and try for the 3000. It took me two months of trying to get to 3000 and get on the cash option. Definitely do as the others suggested and connect with a lot of people, join groups, and visit other people's articles and pictures and leave comments. They will then be more likely to come to yours. You earn points by page views, not really by the comments, but commenting and rating and interacting will get you noticed, and raise your page views, and that will raise your points. Try to publish at least once a day, that will help, too. Personally, I really don't do games, but some like them. :O)

Everyone has given you good advice. Make sure you watch videos or post some. I am guilty of not commenting but I do view and read many, many articles, pictures, and videos everyday. I do rate everyone's page that I view.

I'm a newbie, too. I couldn't understand the system and left after a week. Recently I came back to join some friends I'd made at another site.
I'm dying to know. Have you made the 3000 in one month yet?
