Good morning, friends and writers!
Well, it wasn't that hard after all. With help from my Gather friends (thanks, everyone!), I figured out how to record an MP3 file. I guess I shocked myself, it seemed much easier than I anticipated.
If you'd like to listen to yours truly reading from TREMOLO: CRY OF THE LOON, please click below on the book cover.
I'd love to hear your thoughts - does this entice you to want to know more? Was it a good selection? Would you consider buying the entire audio file if I took the month it would require to record the whole book? Just curious, it's another way to share with my readers and even though it is time consuming, it really is intriguing to know that the way the words sound in my head when writing, could actually be heard in your head the same way. LOL.
If you haven't read the book and would like to get to know Gus LeGarde and his world, please stop by my website here or take a visit to my publisher's site, here.
And as always, thanks for your support. For those of you who love to write, remember to write like the wind!
Aaron

Every time I see your name I smile, remembering the pleasure Tremolo gave me.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book, as well as the two previous ones...Double Forte' and Upstaged. Can't wait to 're-read' Mazurka.....;-)
Your voice is very soothing for an opening of a mystery.
I was hoping for a bit more inflection when the tension begins to rise.
They are in calm water, then, it changes.
Your voice should reflect that change.
Of course, I could just be nit picking.
But, what I heard was interesting.
Even though I don't read that genre, it peaked an urge to hear more. Just to see what would happen sort of thing.
Awww, TB, you are so sweet. Thank you so much. ;o)
Patricia, thank you. What a lovely icon, that blue hat is very cool. ;o)
Karen, I'm flabberghasted. No, I've never done this professionally, but I do know what I "hear" in my head when I write the words, so maybe that makes it easier? Thanks so much for the vote of confidence!
Thanks so much, Lena. Glad you liked it!
Kathryn, you are so kind. Thank you! I feel as if I already know you, too, of course, from our many "conversations" on Gather!
Thanks, Diana. So glad you liked it. Sometimes I hear myself on the audio and it sounds goofy - you know how you don't really sound through your ears how you do through your skull?? Takes some getting used to. LOL.
So I wouldn't buy an audio, but I think this clip is a great way to entice readers like me and possibly listeners who would buy an audio. Sure caught my interest.
For what it's worth.
Thanks, Sandre! I was glad that my not so saavy brain could figure it out. Ha. You never know. Sometimes these things turn into crazy endeavors and other times they just...work. What a relief!
Sheila - I know. It probably would take several "takes" per chapter. Let's say an average of five minutes per chapter, three takes each. That's 15 minutes times say, 50 chapters. Hmmm. Over 12 hours. And you'd have to spread it out so that you didn't get hoarse. Maybe a chapter per night? I'm guessing six to eight weeks of casual recording.
Madame Donna. Why am I not surprised you did such an altruistic thing? Wonderful. I hadn't even thought of how this could help the visually impaired. Of course! And those who are too busy to read, who'd like to listen while commuting or entering data in work, for example. I know how very much I enjoyed hearing Tony Hillerman read his works - fantastic.
Sonia! I'm glad you listened, I am interested in seeing how folks react who've read the book, just to see if it's a whole different "take" on the scene or if it fits right in with what they imagined? Thanks for mentioning the other books in the series. Mazurka should be out soon!
Mary! Thanks a million. I appreciate you taking the time to listen. ;0)
Hi, Angela. You could be right. I did keep it rather calm, so to speak, even when the boat roared toward them. Thanks for the advice!
Hi, Keith. So glad for your feedback. That's exactly what I'd like to know. I guess it depends on the type of book lover you are - but if it intrigues you enough to want to read more, all the better. Guess I'd best get started recording some of my earlier works and the new ones that are coming out. I think the first few chapters would be sufficient, especially if you just consider them like an 'excerpt.' Thanks!
I am wondering how you chose what section to read, and how you chose the length you did?
really like your voice, and as someone who has coached radio announcers, I'd say you have good grasp of how to use your voice to tell a story. and yes, it sure does sound different hearing it played back than it does inside your head, doesn't it? listening to that playback is a really good learning tool.
You know, re. the 'coaching,' I sat through a lot of my daughter's drama events, watching and listening to the drama coach guide and teach the kids. I think I picked up a bit from her. It was so much fun. Thirteen shows!
