Mission 10 – Quantum Acquaintances

This week mission 10 is Quantum Acquaintances. I do not know what this means so I decided to find the definitions for quantum acquaintances.

Here is what I found in dictionary.com:

In physics, a quantum (plural: quanta) is an indivisible entity of a quantity that has the same units as the Planck constant and is related to both energy and momentum of elementary particles of matter (called fermions) and of photons and other bosons. This means that the magnitude can take on only certain discrete numerical values, rather than any value, at least within a range. There is a related term of quantum number.

So after looking at the two words separately this is what I found out

Quantum  roughly means 'how many' in an infinite way

and

Acquaintance is a person, place, or subject that someone knows.

It is amazing to figure out how many people one really knows about or has some knowledge about. It is like there are a billion baseballs floating in space and as you come across one you briefly get to know who and what the person is all about. Just like here on gather.com. I might write and write to all my wonderful friends out there in gatherland but do I really know all about you?

Do you really know all about me? It is amazing to see how many people are on my friends list which I only get to have a quick look into their lives by their pictures and blogs. I only get to see the glimpse that you want me and the rest of the world to see.

We never get to see the parts of your lives that you want to cover up. We never get to see the real you. We only get to imagine that you are just like me by what you write. We only get to see what you look like by a brief photo of you or your life.

So what does that mean? Why do we feel that we are friends in a rather unfriendly world. Why do we see that there is a lot to be done in a place that changes so often with new people, blogs, and pictures.

I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart to become friends with me. thanks for letting me join your groups and hear all about you. Thanks for being my quantum acquaintance. Thanks for being friendly.
