Some time last night I woke up hearing thunder. It quicky progressed to loud thunder, hard rain and bright lightning. I thought I was dreaming when I heard thunder, saw a flash then heard another boom only 2 or 3 seconds later. It continued like that for a few minutes until it put me back to sleep. It was a little scary being so close to the storm because I keep the fans by our heads on all the time- it is really hot on our second floor. I kept wondering if the lightning would decide to defy its rule of striking the highest point and would go for our heads. After that fear went away the wonderful sounds of a summer storm lulled me to sleep. That was the worst storm we have had since I can remember.
It wasn't that bad, of course but we get pretty timid weather here in York, PA. Our area is a little odd. Particularly a place about 5-10 minutes away from where I live in a little town called Thomasville. When it snows everywhere else it is almost always less here (and it's even more ofa difference there). Same with temperature when it is cold. It always seems to be a little tiny bit warmer here. Maybe only a few degrees. We live in a valley and (i guess?) it is one of the lower parts of the valley. It doesn't look or feel like what I think a valley should look or feel like but they tell me it is so I guess they are right. Anyway, our weather tends to be mild. Our temperatures stink- humidity is crazy here and I hate when it is so cold outside but it won't snow. A lot of times it is snowing when it should be but it evaporates before it hits the ground. So disappointing!
Anyway, this morning it is nice and cool outside. Hopefully it doesn't heat up too fast or the wetness from the rain will cause some intolerable humidity today. Which means I will be staying inside all day!

I love thunder storms. We get them pretty frequently here in N.C. in the summer, especially in the evenings.
