Today's question....

With all the upgrades we have seen here on Gather the past several months and today I thought this question would be perfect.

 

How do you feel about change in your life? Do you embrace it or do you fear it?

 

I love change. That is probably why I rarely stay in one place for very long. I like to move. I like to travel. I don't like things to become monotonous. I like each day to be a new experience.

Neutral for right now. It has its ups and downs and some things will take getting used to. I like getting taken directly to mygather and some of the other updates. I don't like the new rating where its a drop down box. I'm afraid it'll be too easy to accidently rate something wrong.

it depends on the type of change it is. If it's good/positive change then I like it...if it's change that messes things up for me like this "upgrade" then I hate it. It depends on each change

I like change~
I love to travel & expereince new things - that's one reason why we are going to Canada next week.
Moving, I never mind moving - I love to experience something new~

I do not like a whole lot of change. I have faced so much change in the past that I like being grounded. The first few years of marriage were for change. We moved, Moved again, and again. We had our children, and we started new jobs. I am settled and I really like that feeling.
Change is the norm - I've just learned to roll with it and not to expect any sort of stability in life.

I'm pretty sedentary, always have been. I'm not really sure how I feel about it intellectually. I suppose as long as I know I have my hutch to come back to.

I love change for the good or for the bad. It can be very stressful but for me is a necessary part of living and experiencing all that I can in the short time that I will walk this earth.

Change doesn't bother me usually.. I can usually roll with most things. Some change is good, some change is bad.. it's all in how you handle it. I'm not loving these new Gather changes at all.. but I'll live with them and learn to deal with them.

I like change and experience new things, but only to the extent it doesn't turn my world totally upside down topsy turvey. There are certain aspects of my life that I wouldn't change for all the money in the world just because I would lose the one thing I value which is my family.

I love it and hate it! Some days, I want to run off to Africa. Other days I want everything in my world to stay the same. Usually, though, I thank the Lord for the changes in life after the initial digging my heels in!

I'm not too thrilled about some of the changes in my life as of late, but I'm just having to deal with them an go on. I hope things will start getting better in a few months. No matter what; life has to go on for me.

I was in a group ask this same thing years ago only about 10% of the people there embraced change. This was a company Manager meeting of a company that was changing everyday. So I would say that 90% of the people do not like change but for me I am in the 10% that enjoys making changes.

The only constant thing in life is change. We have no choice but to accept it. It is both harder and easier for me as I've aged. Some things are so hard to let go of, although the memories remain. Adjusting is a lot harder than it used to be.

I am adjusting to the changes, although I don't see that they were necessary. I take change well and always have. I am the type of person that can walk into a room of strangers and leave the room friends with many.

I am not one that loves change. It takes me several week and/or months to really get used to a change. I hate the fact that gather.com has taken away our grading system. It now makes it feel more like being in myspace.com than anything else

I'm pretty in the middle with change. I enjoy it, hate the same ol' same ol' but still have some issues when they change things that weren't exactly "broken" to begin with. Such as the Gather features, hiding the PUBLISH button like a freaking gold mine!!! LOL Took me forever to find HOW to publish again!

Imagine our world any situation without change. We must trust ourselves to be able to deal with it. It is not always pleasant, sometimes very hard, but we cannot stop it. It is like aging, we are all going there, getting older everyday. Nothing we can do about that either. (At least not yet, and it does have it"s perks!) So I would have to say I accept it, with ruffled feathers at times, screaming, (smile) at others, and totally happy about some also. Good question. Ellen B

I think it's rather refreshing that the changes I've seen so far on Gather are still recognizable, but give a fresher look at the website. I am generally open to change and am a willing Guinea pig to try it out!

Depends on the change. New relationship, marriage, children, promotion, and things like that I embrace. Getting fired, evicted, having to buy a new car because some moron just plowed into yours while talking on a cell phone and failing to stop at a red light, fear.

Some change is always good, but I don't always like change. I hate changes that come for a short amount of time, and amount to nothing other than a disturbance in our schedules. I might be feeling just a bit upset about this specific thing, though, because my husband's schedule was changed yet again today, and it drives me crazy. He doesn't have a job where constant schedule changes should be a normal thing, and they aren't for a lot of people he works with, but it seems like he never stays on the same shift for more than 2 or 3 months, and then gets switched.

It depends on the change for me. I can be very set in my ways at times but others I really want to do or try something new. When I got married and moved to MA I was VERY ready for change and loved it.

The answer for me isn't so easy as change comes in many forms!

Changes that have little to no reason or just to change something like the art on my can of soda where the impact on my life is very little I just deal with as they come but for those potential life altering changes I tend to take a long and hard look at before hand. I must say that I don't do well with changes that are either rammed at me as take it or not nor do I do well with change when it comes to my own personal choice.

I love change. I crave variety. I prefer change for the good, but sometimes you can learn from a change for the bad (and it usually gives you a crazy story to tell later on), as long as it is something you can change back quickly. :)

Sometimes I like change. Like changing the song in my cd player after three weeks of listening to the same artist. But, I hate that the little things have gone away. Like as a child when I had fun at my mamaw's house with my cousins.
Now, our family doesn't even get together anymore.
Or if they do, they never inform me when it's going to be.
I feel cheated that my children don't know the closeness of family like I did.
I just hope that my love is enough to get them through.

When I was a girl, very few people had a television in their homes, children had a wide variety of illnesses (boy, did I get the mumps), no one had set foot on the moon, one night the Berlin Wall went up, Nelson Mandela was imprisoned and girls could grow up to be secretaries or teachers.

Today, I'm communicating with people from all over the world via the internet, my children have never experienced life without cable or satellite television, they've never had childhood diseases because they've been immunized against them, I just looked at live photos from Mars, my brother was in Berlin the day the infamous wall came down, there is no more Soviet Union, my husband stayed home with our children when they were small while I supported a family of five as neither a secretary nor a teacher, and a woman has just staged a campaign as a candidate for the highest office in America.

Jan is right; life is change. All of these things have happened within my own lifetime. I can't wait to see what happens next.

As I suffer from depression, a personality disorder, diabetes and several other maladies - I have to say I have troubles with change. I sort of like everything to be where it should be. And when its not I tend to suffer small panic attacks.
I still haven't recovered completely from the upgrade where they removed being able to tick the groups you wanted to send to - the whole scrolly thing takes so long on dial up for some reason.
I haven't published much since then because it is so time consuming - hopefully one of these upgrades will make it easier.

Change bothers me sometimes, and frightens me a little. Still, I've learned to adapt and adjust. Life is change, and it isn't going to stop just because I'm not happy with it.

I generally hate changes in my life because in my case it usually means that something that was working just fine is suddenly all screwed up for no good reason, I can't object to them if they do actually make something better though.

I am not thrilled with change for change sake (Gather comes to mind here!) but change can be good if you take the time to observe the changes and try them out. If you do not like them - speak up.

BUT if you speak up, you will be heard much more clearly if you also offer a comment or description of what you would like to see happen in its place.
