Senator Obama's message to the American voter is clear: He’s out on the hustings, and the hustings include the world. Right now, he's in that tough patch of the world from Israel to Pakistan that so vexes American foreign policy.
Obama sys he’s there to listen, and he wants to do things differently. On Sunday, from Afghanistan, he said to CBS: "One of the shifts in foreign policy that I want to execute as President is giving the world a clear message that America intends to continue to show leadership, but our style of leadership is going to be less unilateral."
Listen to On Point discussion about Obama's policy options he’s surveying from Kabul to Baghdad to Israel and beyond.
How is the Obama world tour looking to you? What would you expect from an Obama White House on Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Israel? Are you with McCain, that he’s too far down the learning curve? What change would you vote for in this big region?

Obama will move this country into the world community as an equal member rather than as the 900 pound gorilla.
With Obama in charge, the world will again respect us rather than fear us.
As for unilateralism, does ConJob--and others of her view, for that matter--remember the Kosovo conflict? There was a President by the name of Clinton in power at that time. Though he is a Democrat, and presumably as wedded to multilateralism as ConJob, one would be most mistaken in thinking that his administration employed multilateral diplomacy in Kosovo. So as to minimize Russian involvement in a conflict that involved its long-time ally Serbia, the Clinton administration pursued the conflict as a NATO led operation, thus avoiding the diplomatic complications of UN involvement. Whatever you want to say about the pre-Iraq war intelligence issue, the Bush administration devoted much time and effort to getting the UN on board. Compared to Clinton, that looks a lot like multilateralism.
