I remember it well... It was late afternoon... Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed movement outside my kitchen window...
[Cue spooky music]
It was the oddest thing -- I thought I saw a small flock of tiny birds all fly out from the group at different angles...
That's strange, I thought to myself, I've never seen birds do THAT before...
I shook off the creepy feeling and went outside to walk down to the vegetable garden to water it; however, I couldn't help but feel the eerie vibes in the air the moment I stepped outside my front door...
Even the woodpeckers looked like they were on alert -- like there was something strange about to happen:

The scary mood was intensified by these two creepy visitors lurking on the hillside:

When I arrived at the vegetable garden, I noticed a flurry of activity in the blackberry bushes along the fenceline the moment that I opened the gate:

Oh, no!!! BUSHTITS!!!

They were EVERYWHERE!!!

Hanging upside down in the blackberries!

VORACIOUSLY devouring every, single aphid they could FIND!

Naturally, I was TERRIFIED and I held my breath...
Just then, the strangest thing of all happened and each and every ONE of the bushtits simply DISAPPEARED!
[Cue more spooky music]
Whew!, I thought to myself, that was CLOSE!
The bushtits are gone now but, now, every time I walk down to water the vegetable garden all of my senses are on alert for another -- INVASION OF THE BUSHTITS!
THE END?
Author's Note: This article, of course, was written entirely tongue-in-cheek... Bushtits are wonderful little birds who, just as the article suggests, busily glean aphids and other destructive insects from your garden without harming your flowers or veggies in the least... They are also, aside from hummingbirds, some of the tiniest avian visitors you will ever see! EVERYBODY should be so lucky as to experience an "INVASION OF THE BUSHTITS"!
;o)

I'm having some of the same trouble you are, Ashley... I posted a thanks comment to all of you earlier in the day and I guess it just evaporated into the ether!
I liked the photo with the blurred wings, too, Catherine! That's the very reason that I kept it in!
Oh, PULEEEEEZE! Do you honestly think that ANYONE takes you seriously anymore???
Naw... the vultures were too far off to smell, Tinch... THANK GOODNESS! ;o)
Did I actually say that out loud? Oops.
