Your My Gather Page and the Homepage

Gather has a new homepage for both members and non-members.

Your My Gather page will now be your homepage if you are a member and logged in. It still gives you access to your Friend Feed, Group Feed, and Feed Me; your profile; and all your content and comments. Alerts that you have unread Gather mail; pending friend requests, group invitations, or comments; and accepted invites appear in your dashboard. They have been removed from the header, so be sure to check your My Gather page for updates. In addition, you now have access to the Invite and Share functionality, as well as your Gather personal messaging mailbox from the dashboard area of your My Gather page.

Access to featured content, that was formerly on the homepage, and all the content lists that were previously links in secondary navigation are now part of the new People, Groups, and Explore landing pages.

If you tell your friends who are not members to visit Gather or you visit www.gather.com when you are not logged in, the new homepage will be shown. The new homepage will change from time to time and highlight the things members can do on Gather. It also lets visitors view the landing pages and search the site. Members can sign in on the homepage or click the sign-in link in the header to access a sign-in page.

So I'm stuck in my own little world? Not sure I like that much. I liked the home page that everyone - member and non-member saw first thing.

Hi Marilyn- Thanks for your note. The "Explore" page is meant to bring people together to see and join a conversation around the latest and greatest thoughts of other Gatherers. We found that bringing new users into the old homepage was a confusing experience for them. They weren't sure what Gather was or how to get involved. We hope this new layout will help balance the needs of new members and current ones, by providing different experiences on arrival.

is there a way to increase the font size? it is difficult to read because it is small. I do not have particularly bad eyes, nor do I usually complain about small print, but this is difficult to read.

I have Gather as my Homepage, because I liked the fact that I could check out what was happening that day without logging in. That would give me an idea of things I might want to check out, even if I wasn't going onto Gather right then. Now, I think I may change my Homepage, because it doesn't give me any useful information without logging in, so it's pointless to have it as a Homepage.
