Honesty encourages modesty and not all my painted minis are works of art. (Indeed are any of my minis works of art? Alas I digress.) When I cam back to painting minis, some of the minis I thought I had painted well in reality weren't all that well painted. So I give you the "best of the worst" of those that had scored really badly in Cool Mini or Not.

I'm sure that many people see a more sinister side to this mini. I mean she has a revolver and a stuffed bunny. Seems normal to me. (Muahahaha) I decided to make has as normal as possible, and leave a pool of green glitter paint along with the sprig of grass on the base. A "happy accident" (A friend of mine who once taught art classes would complain to me for that remark) got some of the glitter on the back of her dress, but that's what vile green goop does, get over people! The picture is a little fuzzy, a result of trying to photograph too many minis at one time and at night.

Competition: CMON Contest 5 Mini - Sporkqueen

I've learned a number of things as a result of this ... like bleached bone and skull white do not make a good color combination because the former has too much yellow in it. I have also managed to finally figure out how to use the camera, well over a month after the photo was taken however. I am content with being the fist to officialy enter the contest and having the lowest score. I actually had considered adding to the base, but somehow anyting living (grass) would destract from the spork like barreness of the queen and her minions.

You know there really isn't anything bad about this fairy. She has more clothes than the female fairy of Freebooter so it's clearly not that. After due consideration, I gave her a reson for people to say "Bad Fairy!" She was painted to be similiar to my Female Fairy, lighter in some ways (skin tone ... bad fairy's don't stay in the sun enough to get good tans) and darker in others (the wings are metalic blue and black).

So what can I say? Perhaps as Ruphus once said of Wyld Stallons, "they get better." Clearly my technique has inproved over these few years, my photography skills have vastly improved, and I am using paints that blend well together. Never the less I am still a light year away from anything that you would see at a painting competition. So looking back I can report progress and promise that I will get better. I doubt my minis will ever form the basis for peace and harmony on the planet, but one can never tell.

My first ever painted minis were a dark elf team for Blood Bowl. Within a few years, I was so ashamed of the paint job that I traded them to a new BB player for 3 new paint brushes. :)
I'm a Hasslefree fanatic. I haven't bought anything but Grymn for several years. I'll have to figure out this photo posting thing here in order to share some pics. Most are still works in progress, but I'm willing to share.
