1.) Stop and Smell the Flowers
You don't have to buy flowers to enjoy them. Either plant a few in your own yard or walk through the park and enjoy theirs. Another place you might try is your local Botanical Gardens, or even a Florist shop. You can wander around and just "smell" the flowers, and it won't cost you a thing.
2.) Sing at the Top of Your Lungs in Your Car
Drive to any out of the way place. Just outside of town, or even the far side of the mall parking lot. Roll up your windows, turn up the volume on your favorite CD and sing like you're the headlining act.
3.) Give Yourself an Award
Get out a blank sheet of paper and several colored pencils or pens and create an award for yourself. It can be an award for not freaking out at work, or for listening to your co-workers latest conquest when you really wanted to run screaming from the room. What ever the occasion, make it just for you.
4.) Find Something Good About Your Day
Focus on one thing that went good during your day. Even if it seems totally insignificant, run with it. When you can find something positive to focus on, you'll find that the other things don't seem nearly as bad as before.
5.) Read a Humor Column
Many magazines contain humor columns. Take a trip to the library and treat yourself to a couple at your leisure. Also, there are literally hundreds of humor related articles and columns around the Internet. Choose a few of these and dive in.
6.) Write a Letter or Poem to Yourself
Send yourself a letter telling yourself what a good job your doing, or write a poem to yourself about what a great person you are. It doesn't have to become a "self love" type of thing, just a little something to remind yourself that there is a good person inside of you.
7.) Make a List of All Your Good Qualities
Sit down and write out all the good things you do for yourself and others around you. Come up with as many as possible, even if at first they didn't seem all that meaningful.
8.) Go to the Park and Play on the Swings
Sit back and kick your legs as if you were 10 years old again. Feel the wind flow through your hair and revel in the freedom you'll feel.
9.) Make Eye Contact and Smile at Everyone You Talk To
Make a point to look directly at everyone you deal with, smiling all the while. When others see the smile on your face and the twinkle in your eye, you might accidentally make their day better too.
10.) Color a Picture
Find a coloring book and a box of crayons and go to town. Just let yourself relax as you color and don't think about the day behind you.
