finger food and coffee

conversation, music and kinship

compliments given, gossip overheard

parties enjoyed, tolerated

attendance required

favors, promises, ask, broken

pleasantries, jokes, stories overheard

wine, red or white

martinis, whiskey, too

the shaky, the confused

the lady and her cane

old men sipping

young ones imbibing

dancing, sitting, boredom

thoughts of lust, jealousy, betrayal

skirts a-flutter

skin to see

dressed to kill

drunks walk sloppily

fun for some

duty for others

kindliness, encouragement, courtesy

insults, perfidy, betrayals

time to enjoy

time to go

foie gras and truffles

pate and parties

Where art thou, my petite fours? My Dad knew they were my absolute favorites and he would buy them for me in a special confection shop that is no longer around. Oh, you can buy them in some local stores, but they're as fake as a blonde in China. You've just made me HAVE to have one, or two, or a box, and now I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm going to have to get into the city ASAP, I suppose.

Interesting take on parties, and nary a martoonie!
