Greetings from Bayouland. Yesterday, I decided to celebrate my day by going to a friend's cottage in a Bayou cul-du-sac near Belle River on the other side of Pierre Part. Here's her little cottage - yes, ladies her very own get-away out on Bayou Pigeon Road. My friend, who owns this bayou camp, Colette Canty, makes the most wonderful swamp dolls which she sells in the French Quarter. She goes out to her "out of the way" house for inspiration.

We've known each other for years. She and a friend who is a rehab therapist and my other friend, Marly AKA Webfoot Lady here on Gather hung around yesterday and plan to return in the near future. We kept the generator off and listened to the sounds of the herons and gros bec and crickets. It was enchanting. Thank you for reading this! Salud.

Great pictures.
Its been quite a while since I been down to Pigeon and Jack Miller's. My last trip to Pierre Part was the funeral of a long-time friend's grandfather. This particular friend, who has worked long and hard to become articulate, educated, and well-travelled, was born and raised on a house-boat on Bayou Pigeon.
In years past, many rising suns found me at the boat ramp at Pigeon, launching our boat for a day of bass fishing. The Atchafalaya Basin, whether we started at Pigeion or Whiskey Bay was our play ground.
If you turned off the generator there must have been ice-cold beverages on hand, as well as mucho skeeter repellant.
Nice to see you...missed you...Seems you had pure fun...with your beautiful friends
Oooh-Weeee! I'll be right over. Is that the Webfoot Lady au naturel (or almost, I guess) on the pier? Have a cold one for the ole Colonel.
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
