Christina claimed that when Joan's relationships ended, Joan went bonkers and took a scissors and cut the men's faces out of all the photos that had been taken of them.
Christina must have not thought about DVD, or any sort of reruns. We can now see she lifted that idea from the super cool 60s Joan Crawford horror movie Straight-Jacket. In the movie, family photos in an album are mutilated in the very same way. It's one of the "Clues".
Straight-Jacket, A William Castle film, was going to star Joan Blondell. Joan Crawford stepped in at the last minute when Blondell had an accident that badly cut her leg (she tried to walk through a glass door) and the accident had to stay hush hush so Blondell could remain insurable for future movies she might do (she kept having drunk accidents). Then the press accused Joan Crawford of coming in and STEALING the part from Blondell, and Joan Crawford wouldn't defend herself, to keep her friend's secret.

Sadly he's dead now, but maybe his children will have memories of things their dad said. Joan's other two adopted daughters insist none of that loud crazy stuff happened while they were around.
If Christina wants to talk about abuse she has to do a better job and not lie and exaggerated and twist. It throws it right out of court.
Her acting career is now trashing her old dead Mom (usually around Joan Crawford drag queens with wire hangers). How sad.

but, it doesn't mean that bits of the book may not be true.
Abuse can be well hidden. Especially from other children.
An abuser can and will pick on one child out of the others.

Not that I am saying Joan did anything. There truly is no proof one way or the other.
Yes, I'm very sure Joan spanked when the kids misbehaved, slapped when they lipped off, and they got rare steak (vitamins were all the craze). They went to school. They couldn't have sex at 13. Same things happened to me.
Except my mom let me keep my clothes on wire hangers. But then I didn't have expensive heavy satin dresses. The whole Mommy Dearest story is a big "who cares" when you take out the one sided cry baby part of it.
