I don't know why I even watched The Ruins, especially because I read the book and hated it. Maybe I expected it to be somehow better than the book since the author, Scott Smith, also wrote the screenplay. Although he did change some things for the movie, it still has the same problems as before. It's about a small group of tourists who get trapped on an old Mayan temple and the surrounding villagers refuse to let them off. The tourists think they can just wait it out until something on the temple starts coming after them. This movie had a good bit of potential, but the characters do so many dumb things that I couldn't get into the situation, plus it is over too quickly. It is now available on DVD and Blu-Ray.
