My dad used to say that ... whatever floats your boat.
Anyway...that's what Ross & I & Scrooge did to entertain ourselves today.
We moved the boat from here

to out there, where it belongs. Notice the dock. It was at that point, I gave up on trying to do my stuff and went out to help :)

The plan was that Tim, the son-in-law, was to show up this morning with a few of his friends and help lengthen the dock, move the marine track, and get the boat in the water. He didn't show up. Ross went out anyway, and was trying to move the dock himself. It didn't seem to be working too well, so I ended up getting off my butt, finding my swimsuit and going out to help.
My help is not, typically, all that welcome anymore.... used to be, but then I had some health issues and now he fusses. But oh well... there was no one else, so he had to make do. Scrooge supervised, of course. It is what he does best.

Fortunately, Ross is both very strong and very clever - especially when it comes to figuring out how to move large objects that don't particularly want to be moved.

And we have a winch

and the marine track - although the marine track has a few ~little~ problems. Like this, for example. It can be a ~little~ complicated to keep the boat on the rails when they aren't lined up properly.

The first big challenge was clearing enough weeds so that we could see the rails. Ross used a hoe... and laughed at me cuz I was cutting them away with scissors. It worked though. Next year, we need to get to this earlier - like before the weeds get a chance to grow!

The funniest part was when we finally got the boat moving ... it just ZOOMED down the track the first time.... and I whined that I wasn't ready and hadn't filmed it. So he pulled it back up and did it again.
But the second time it just sort of puttered down - so the video is too boring to post anyway.

Eventually we made it ....almost ... the last few feet were a bitch! And getting the boat off of the winch and floating freely wasn't much fun either.

Look!!! We floated our boat!!!

(And fixed the dock, too...but that's not nearly as exciting).

how nice and helpful of you...lol....
and we're looking forward to it Stephanie... now that he's home every night and on weekends, doesn't matter that I don't like to drive this one by myself...we can go together :)
Oh boy do I wish I was there about now....really, really wish to be on a boat in the middle of the lake.
Tim & his friends had said they would...so didn't know to plan to have her here to help
That second shot is precious with him skipping down the dock!
10 stars.
Way to go!
I hope you find time to enjoy your boat!
I can't imagine why he doesn't want your help when you make him pull the boat back up so you can film it for Gather...LOL
Have a blast.
And you wonder why the kids whine! Or where they learned to do it!
(That doesn't stop me from thinking that Ross is a smart man! Happy wife = happy life.)
and can't USE the boat until he sorts out the battery and the motor .... battery is on the charger now, and guy is coming to tune up the motor later this week
Suey
Keep smiling
or so the theory goes... the government refuses to acknowledge that as the cause of the overall low water levels in Georgian Bay ... they just do studies that result in more studies.
Not good that Bob the boat guy hasn't shown up. Isn't there a Tom the boat guy or Harry the boat guy?
