I started Christmas shopping

When do you start?  I like to buy early, wrap, and know that person is finished.  It saves me from having to charge.  Next month, I'll buy another round.  About November, I just sit back and enjoy the wrapping, the tree, and plan our family's get together.  How about you?

Im a last minute shopper. I have been working on not being one, but something or another happens and my shopping always gets pushed a side. I do have two gift I just got this week. One for each of the boys. Hey its a start and alot earlier then Dec. sometime.

Are we talking about Christmas already? LOL! I am a last minute shopper too. Each year I plan on doing it early but I always find another reason to use the money. Maybe I'll try to do better this year.

Last month. I wrap as I buy. I'll put bows on when it's time to drag it under the tree.

I'm pretty much done. I start as soon as Christmas is over. I will pick up a few more things when it gets closer to Christmas, for my toddler. His birthday is the first of February, so we buy a few sale things for his birthday, too, when they have big sales in November and December.
I am a believer in homemade and i am making things year round.

Well, I'll usually place orders for the out-of-state family and friends and get those out on time (or close to it), but the regular shopping I put off as long as I can.

But in my defense... I don't have any closets or storage space, so if I did shop early, I'd have no where to put it and the dogs would eat it. (haha. that's my rationale for being a procrastinator... even though it is true.)

I picked up a couple of things last month. I have some ideas on other gifts already. I like to be done by Thanksgiving.

eeeekkkkk Carol, you just scared me. I am one of those....late shoppers, mostly because it takes me so long to find the "right" present for each person...I've always been like that...not very helpful in the early to shop game! Maybe if you keep writing about it you will inspire me....LOL!

I am just like you! I start usually around May or June. I like to know that it's all done. My husband thinks that you should start on the December 23 but I am slowly teaching him that it's easier to spend less than a hundred a month for six months than to spend a thousand 2 days before the day lol

I can't think about Christmas when it is 100 degrees and humid outside.

I use to start early. Now if I happen to see something during the year I will buy it but otherwise usually I start on Black Friday.

I'm in the same "shopper" category as Jules A. I bought my cards last year during the sales. I sew, paint and create year-round for my family and friends. (And one of my artificial trees is still standing in the living room from December 2007.)

Now that my parents are gone and my children are adults, I've been trying to cut back on the gift buying. When possible, I try to make something special and personal for my kids. I was able to do that for one daughter and my daughter-in-law last year. I hope to do something similar for the other daughter this year. Come to think of it, though, I DID pick up a few smallish things on clearance in January. So, yeah, I started early--VERY early.
I wait usually until November to start. For one a lot of my presents are for teens & I don't want to buy something that they end up getting before Christmas.
2) My daughter's birthday is November 28th, so I always wait to buy for her until after that.
3) I tend to forget what I buy people if I buy it too early.
4) I love to shop on Black Friday - the day after Thanksgiving.

I do not even think about Christmas until after Thanksgiving. I go shopping at 3am after I get out of work. I hate crowds! merry Christmas everyone & happy 2009!

I usually get started in September. I have my Christmas cards addressed by Thanksgiving, then I put up the decorations the day after Thanksgiving. From then on I just enjoy the holiday season.

I have started tucking things away that I find. We also have a big round of birthdays in October, so it is good to get those covered too!


My only problem is that i really need to get more organized with it. Often I forget or misplace the things that I have set aside and find them when I am packing the decorations back up in January!

I usually start around early November and somehow, I'm still out on the 23rd of December picking up some last minute things. But this is the time of year that my sister usually starts. I give you credit for that.

I shop as I see sales and I only buy if I REALLY love something. IE:I don't buy because it is on sale. SO far I have a few things for my neice, a few for my cousin, books for my youngest neice and nephews (for Halloween too) and a few books for my son. I am saving my gather points, mypoints and hopefully boomer for more money to shop. I also mystery shop at a famous retailer (sorry can't give the name it is agenst to rules) and I sometimes buy birthday presents with that moeny
