Consider the following:
"We are still living with a deceitful government, a compliant press, corruption and an overriding cynicism."
— Jim Garrison (1988) - American Prosecutor who led the enquiry into the assassination of John F Kennedy.
In your opinion, was Jim Garrison right?

This seems so obvious to me!
I am very curious as to why this is not obvious to others as well. If it were, you would not be asking the question.
Ann C - the love of argument has been a uniquely American phenomena and is vital to our strength as a democracy.
Whining is argument done incorrectly. We have lost the ability to argue, so I guess you could say we are a nation of whiners.
I wish we were a nation of argumentors.
What's all this "thanks for sharing" business? This adds nothing to the discussion and just takes up unnecessary bandwidth.
I would not suggest that has changed.
I do suspect, however, that there has been a change in the kind of tolerance the populace has for knowing about and responding to these. And the last is driven by the overriding cynacism.
I agree with Garrison.
I think the cynasism comes from the overload of media stories.
We are on 24-7. Beat a dead horse to a pulp, a newspaper pulp!
