Another week has gone by.Â
It was a fairly good week. Work was long this week. I worked 17 hours on Monday, then 12 on Tuesday and Wednesday. So I didn't have much time for much of anything else. I babysat Granny on Wednesday evening before I went to work. I got to work the dayshift (and then the overnight shift) at work on Monday. I had such a good time with the residents. I usually only see them while they are sleeping and then getting ready for the day. So it was nice to hang out with them. I'd much rather do that than inservice trainings. I'd rather someone beat me with a bloody stump than make me go to inservice trainings.
My sister, Katie, her husband, Roy, and I were planning on going to St. Louis to see the new Batman film at the IMAX theater when I went on vacation. But that ain't gonna happen because they get to close on their house a week from today!!! YAY!!! So I'll probably spend the first couple of days at least of my vacation moving them into their new house! Almost all of their belongings are in a storage unit right now, so all the packing and what not's already done.
And since we're not going to the IMAX in St. Louis, my sister and I went to the 12:12am showing of Batman: The Dark Knight Friday morning. The 12:01am showing was sold out, and I think the 12:12am showing was also sold out. We got to the theater at 10:30pm, and there was already quite a line. By the time they opened the doors at 11:30pm, the line was to the far end of the parking lot! There were a couple of guys dressed up as The Dark Knight. One guy was wearing a kiddie costume, and another was wearing a very expensive, very well made costume. I think I'm getting too old for the midnight showings. I felt like the oldest person in line. Usually the Quincy movie theater (which has great seating and wonderful sound, unlike our old crappy theater here in town), is quite chilly in the summer. Not for the Batman showing! Good grief!
You know, there's a lot of hype about Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker in the new Batman movie. There's a lot of buzz about how it's an Oscar worthy performance. Before I saw the movie I thought it was just a lot of hype to drum up interest in the movie. After seeing Ledger play The Joker, I believe the hype! Wow!! Now that's my kind of Joker! Two-Face was spooky too. That was one of the best movies I've seen in a long long time.
Cell phones are used in an unusual and disturbing way in the new Batman movie. And being paranoid, I wonder how easily that can be done with our cell phones.
I got the third book of the Twilight Saga today, Eclipse. I'm working on Star Wars: New Jedi Order: Dark Tide II right now. As soon as I finish that I'll start on the Eclipse book.
Still no word on who's going to be my home manager. I just hope they don't get a tyrant in there like the one before our current HM. Evidently she had never heard the saying, "Be nice to the ones you meet on your way up, you'll see them again on your way back down."
Tony Stewart is going to become a team owner next NASCAR season. He's one of my favorites and I hope this venture goes well for him.Â
Seeing banks such as Indymac fail, and seeing lines of people waiting for hours and hours to try to get their money out worries me that we're heading for our own version of the Depression. It may not be as bad as the first one, now that we have social programs such as food stamps, medicaid, medicare, and what not, but it does look scary.Â
I think I'm done rambling for now. How's things going in your neck of the woods?

Next week! And, I'm officially on vacation from work for two weeks! Yeah!!
12 hours is a long work day- 17 is insane!! How do you do it?
I haven't seen any lines at the banks here yet but I hope I don't. If everyone leaves their money alone it will be ok. When a few people start taking their money out they screw over everyone else. If you have a simple account in an FDIC bank you are secure up to $100,000. If there are runs on the bank it may take a while to get your money but you will get it! It is scary though.
..
U wishing you laughter
