This should have been posted Wednesday night but I was really tired and frustrated. None of the videos I took came out, so I had to settle on posting just an article and a slideshow.
The second day of the fair was demolition derby night. They do a bigger one on Saturday and I hope to have videos of that one. Wednesday night's demos were the 4 Cylinder, Figure 8 and cars 4200 lbs.& under. To me, its was kind of boring....not a lot of crashing and bashing. LOL. Here are some pictures.
First, they started with the singing of the National Anthem.

This is the car that they were raffling off. If you won you got to drive it in Saturday night's demo.

Of course, no day is complete without my best friend Penny.

Its starting to get cloudy. I hope it doesn't rain.

The fire department is on hand in case there is a fire or if someone gets trapped in their car.

This truck one the best of show award. Its supposed to be Towmater from Cars.

The sky still doesn't look all that great.

Lets line them up and get ready to go.

The winner of the first heat.

Its a girl! LOL

Lets try this again. Look at the sky. I wasn't able to capture the lightening but believe me, it was lightening off in the distance. Some really nice bright streaks too. I'm starting to get nervous because I am terrified of thunderstorms.

The sky isn't looking so good.

So, the announcer comes on and says that the police has ordered everyone off the bleachers and to seek shelter. The demos would resume in 30 minutes. Ok, so I wasn't too sure the storm was going to hit us because they had been going south west all day. This one, if it hit us, would be going north east. I thought maybe we might get rained on. I had my 4 year old grandson with me and he had to go to the bathroom. So we are standing in this long line. Something told me to get out of there and fast. We bolted to the animal barns. Wanna see the sky now?

All hail broke loose and I do mean hail. The wind started whipping. The lightening was closer. We lost power. Many people were huddled together in this animal barn. I felt so sorry for those poor animals. Even inside we were getting wet. I was terrified, of course. LOL. Then about 10 minutes later, it was over. A rainbow appeared. We could see it but it didn't come out that great in a picture. Hopefully you can see it.

Back to the demos, after drying off our seats. LOL

I will be posting the slideshow later today or tomorrow. I will be going to the demos again on Saturday night. I can hopefully get videos this time. Also, there is a chance of thunderstorms that day as well. The parade is tonight, so I will have something posted for that too.

These are some awesome shots. I love Demolition Derbys. Our State Fair is taking place in Delaware for the next eight days and I think there are at least four of them taking place during that.
That storm looks wicked. The one shot looks like there is a funnel cloud in it. It is crazy this time of year how quickly these storms can pop up. I can see the rainbow just a bit. They are beautiful things.
Have a great weekend!
Rob, I love the demos too. But I really wasn't thrilled with Wednesday nights. They did this figure 8 thing where they had to go around the tires and try not to hit each other. I wanted them to hit each other.LOL.
Bob, I doing good. How are you? Yes, I saw that cloud and thought the same thing. You have a great weekend too.
