Occasionally, I like to pass along stories worth sharing. I've recently discovered GoodTube, a website dedicated to sharing videos (just like YouTube) from non-profits about good works and charity. This is such a great endeavor that I just had to share it. I hope you will check them out.
Profiles in Caring and GoodTube
If you type www.goodtube.org into your Internet browser, you will find yourself on the homepage of a video sharing website dedicated to good. You may even find yourself having fun viewing these good videos of all the good being done in this world. After browsing through the site and watching various videos from various non-profits all over, one of the first things you may notice is that a large number of these good videos are produced by a show called Profiles in Caring.
PIC is a not for profit television show that essentially "profiles" various humanitarian organizations all over the world from Southern Utah to Ethiopia to Cambodia. Each of these TV news stories, web casts, and half-hour programs are very thorough in their explanation of these nonprofits, and the best part about it is that they use real footage, real pictures, real interviews of these groups, no matter where they are in the world, or how far from civilization they are serving their mission to help. They use a personal, behind-the-scenes emphasis, allowing the viewer to really experience all that the humanitarian group has to offer.
GoodTube was created based off of Profiles in Caring, when the executive producer, directors, and talent realized that the future of social media really is in the internet, and is shying away from broadcast television. GoodTube allows television shows like Profiles in Caring to reach their audience through a new and different outlet, and on a larger, more easily accessible scale. Any viewer can see any video by Profiles in Caring in the click of a button on www.goodtube.org
