So I was in a McDonald's a couple nights ago to type up some camp stories and walked into a slight confrontation. There's some background info but basically, the customer was complaining to the cashier and the cashier had a manager helping him. The man had ordered "a" hamburger and the guy heard "8" hamburgers. Simple mistake and considering both of them were foreign and had heavy accents, it shouldn't have been a big deal to fix it.
Instead of having it corrected and moving on, though, the customer decided to be incredibly rude about it. He made a small scene and held his voice high enough to make sure the entire dining area could hear. When I thought it was over and the manager walked away, I heard the customer say something in a slightly quieter voice, though.
"So where are you from anyway?" he spat with distaste. I didn't hear the cashier's name, however, I'm going to guess that it was Russia. The man leaned back in and threw out "so you remember communism, huh?" The cashier just sorta nodded and walked away because he'd already been through a beating. The man got his food and left, but I heard the cashier vent a bit to his coworker a bit later because the whole ordeal really upset him.
Sure, ruder things have happened but this was recent. What's the rudest thing you've witnessed lately?

Almost as bad was the lady in front of me at Taco John's yesterday--among other things she said in a very surly tone to the poor teenager at the register, "I'll be paying you in quarters. It's called slot machines." She was just nasty the whole transaction. And people wonder why they get "bad" service. I would have spit in food.
I can't think of anything lately. I guess that is a good thing!
Today we were at Taco Bell, and my son was being really good (he usually is when we are out). There was a woman and her daughter, probably around 4 years old, sitting close to us. The little girl asked if she could have some ice cream, and the woman, in a really stern voice, said "See why you're so FAT! That little boy over there isn't begging for ice cream, that's why he's thin instead of FAT like you!" She pointed at my son, and I thought the little girl might cry, but instead she just said "Ok, mama," and looked really sad. We smiled at her when we saw her looking over, but she turned her head really fast. I just felt so bad for her! What kind of parent tells a small child that he or she is fat??
I haven't seen anything quite so rude in a long time. Once I heard a mother calling her son stupid and going on and on and on....I turned to the kid and said you are not stupid your mom is ignorant to treat you this way.
1. A couple with two infants that were walking running around in the store and the kids had on a top and diapers -- no skirt, pants or anything! They were running amok in the store, running and picking things up and throwing them around and the parents did NOTHING!
2. Same store, 20 minutes later - woman with child about 2-3 comes in and the kid is just making as much noise as possible, mother does nothing about it. They left and I went to the break room for a Tylenol and the phone number for a doctor that does vasectomies. It was not only annoying to me and my manager, there were three other customers that complained and almost walked out.
It would have if they left the kids at home.
