I have come to believe that one of the reasons we grown-ups are always so stressed out and sick feeling is because we simply don't take the time to relax and just be a child again. That may sound silly, but I believe it is so important to just let loose sometimes and act silly.
We spend so much time worrying about what other people will think about us. We have our guard up too often, when it would best serve us and those around us to just ease up on ourselves and on those around us a bit. We make huge battles out of such small things that could just as easily have turned into a moment of frivolity.
How many times have we gone ballistic over one of the kids spilling juice all over the clean kitchen floor? Would it not have been just as easy to make a joke about it, and chuckle as you clean it up together?
How about baking cookies together? Everyone knows what a big mess that is. Ever just got some frosting and decorated your husband's nose with it?.....(yes, I did). Not only did the kids think it was hilarious, we all started laughing and playing around like that. Yes, it was a mess, but one of the best family memories I have.
One time my husband picked me up (a few pounds ago) and carried me into a fountain and kissed me passionately. This happened at a theme park we were at, and it was very spontaneous. The kids loved it, and people actually clapped. We were both soaking wet, but it was very romantic.
Lately, I've been trying to bring out my inner child a bit more. There is nothing wrong with being playful, spontaneous, and childlike. It brings out a joy from deep inside that we don't see as often as we should.
Today, my husband and myself walked to the park and played basketball together. It was so much fun. We played H-O-R-S-E, and we got quite competitive with one another. He beat me both games today...but NEXT time he better look out!
Anyway, my entire mood is lighter since we went and played basketball. Such a simple thing that changed the course of my day. So try and bring out your inner child more. You'll be glad that you did!

This is truly a wonderful and enlightening article. Thank you.
We should never lose the inner child, and his/her playfulness. Excellent thoughts.
Good stuff.
