It isn't as hard to stick to this healthy eating program as I thought. Once a day or two passes without a lot of refined foods and sugary treats, the cravings begin to subside. I haven't been totally strict with this program, I've hedged a little here and there but most of all I've stayed with healthy carbs, protein, and belly blasting foods.
Top of the list for those (belly blasting foods) are what is called "resistant starch". These are actually the fiber like parts of carbohydrates that resists digestion. Normal carbs are quickly digested and absorbed into our blood stream as blood sugar. Resistant starch actually goes all the way through the small intestine without being digested at all. In this way, it is more like fiber, and in some cases is classified and labeled as fiber.
After delving into the various aspects of resistant starch I began incorporating them into my meal plans. The major inclusion was one I like very much, beans. I liberally add cold mixed beans to my salads, which I eat twice a day. I learned that cold potatoes and pasta are resistant starches, so I made potato salad with healthy olive oil and added lots of herbs. Whole grain bread is good as well as slightly green bananas.
Since I've started being more aware of foods that are actually good for me and making a point of eating them daily, the changes in me are It's working. I'll be posting more of what I'm doing and how it's working here on Gather. I hope you'll let me know if you want me to alert you when the next article is posted.
I look forward to all of your comments.

Congratulations on the weight loss. I'm gaining belly fat. I do eat beans, potatoes (not many) and pasta, don't eat sweets, drink sodas, eat junk. BUT my blood pressure med was doubled last month and I've gained almost 2 inches of fat since then. It is so frustrating . . . I need to find time to exercise more now, just when everything was in balance - ARGH!!!
You've probably realized this by now, but your article is written twice above.
As they say in Weight Watchers, "I'm hoping to see less of you."
Congratulations on yur will power.
Congratulations!
