Yes! It's true!
I've sold In Over Her Head to Sourcebooks for publication in June, 2009.
And I've also sold the next two books in the Mer series, Whale of a Tail (Rod's story) and Catch of a Lifetime (Angel's story) for publication in August 2009 and October 2009. A 3 book deal, and I couldn't be happier!
Thanks to all of you who voted for In Over Her Head in the First Chapters Romance Contest and helped it to the finals, thanks to all who encouraged me to enter the contest after reading Beauty and The Best in the original First Chapters Contest. You all are fantastic and I really hope you enjoy the books! I'll post covers, ISBN #s and drop dates as I have them.

Great going, Judi.
Honestly, I don't know that this story would have been finished if it weren't for the hundreds of people who emailed me when this contest was announced, so thank you all - again!
Congrats Judi. Very happy for you.
Can you see she's a bit excited?
Judi, I am very glad to hear this thing happens to a nice doll like youse, and it makes me happy more than somewhat!
Judi, wonderful, and congrats. And dont forget us when youre famous. What am I saying, you ARE famous. So dont forget us. (I know you wont).
Oh I put a call in to Fabio. He will be thrilled as well.
Do we love Judi? Oh yes, we do.
Awesome and splendiferous and beyond fantastic.
For the future--May you outsell your wildest imaginings. May you never run out of ideas or skills or the time to write. May you become a household name, but with only the good products of fame and none of the weird stuff. May this be a blessing to your family. And may you remember fondly all the little wombats who love you.
Well done, Judi. Well done.
You are dedicated, disciplined, and an asset to the romance publishing industry. Even while waiting for your dream to come true you give and support others ahead and behind you. I am thrilled for you. Honestly, it couldn't have happened to a better person. Or cheekier writer ;)
Can I send you a check now? I want autographed (I wrote authographed at first) copies.
Mermaid Glitters
CONGRATULATIONS JUDI!
Mermaid Glitters
Congratulations Glitters
Lovin' the Mers, Viv!
I used to love commenting on your aritcles, saying, "In over her head, and up to her eyeballs in love . . . LOL
Much Success, Author, you earned it . . . Bet, you can't wait to get that ISBN number . .
Doing the published dance . . .
In other words, OK Judi, youre published (wow, does that feel good, or what?) . But now we need to get you SOLD. A new Wombat mission. No time to rest on laurels. Well, take a day, I guess, or maybe the weekend. And then.....to work!!!
Mmmmm, chili smells almost done.
Yeah, now the work really begins! But that's okay, it's what I wanted.
How incredibly exciting.. have they shown interest in the rest of the series?
Waves hand wildly at Wendy*> Pink Mimosas over here, pretty please.
This is beyond sublime!
I don't check the comments on that article very often. Sorry I missed your update Paul, it's fixed now. Please post me an email with updates so I don't miss them.
WELCOME BACK! :)
I saw Dave on the last thread. Dave, did you say you were headed to San Francisco for business? Don't forget that the Wombats will be there next Saturday. Perhaps you could stay and visit with them.
Ian, great to see you too.
So, who's up for both Batman and Momma Mia this weekend?
Thanks for posting to Books, books, and more books! Have a great day!
Thanks, James, and everyone!
I can think of no one else who has worked harder than you have. Salute!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

congratulations!!!!
and best of luck in the year 2009...big year for u..... hope we see them in Lebanon....
Hey everyone....miss you all..... **Hugs**
I rented, but still have to watch Persepolis. This line is what sold me, "make up, nail varnish,....Iron Maiden?" the blackmarketeer hawks to the teenage girl. This is the cartoon film done in French regarding growing up in Iran after the Shah's fall.
Persepolis, it was nominated for an Oscar.
Hope you feel better Mike.
I'm so bummed I'll miss you guys in San Francisco! Not that being with James in Dublin is chopped liver, but the good news will make it a wild party! Not sure wombats need a reason to get raucous :-?
Mike, feel better soon.
Off to monitor the latest disaster. And yes, Judi is indeed an inspiration. I may even find time to edit tonight, although as bleary as I'm getting, that's probably not wise! Party on my dears!
Pat, I'm grimacing for you. Off to do some yard work. New trimmer. Can't wait to play...
Hmmmm.... Why is it getting dark so early? I can't see my video game guide book.
*looks outside
Nasty looking clouds out there.
*sound of neighbor's lawn mower starting up
WTF? Neighbor yard nazi is at it again. If you ain't kentucky blue grass, it's the gas chamber for you.
*crack of lightning, torrential downpour
LMAO! You're drenched, yard nazi! Serves you right for trying to mow the yard just before a deluge. MWA HA HA HA!!
tries not to break out and join in the evil laugh. MWA
oh oh. must....use....all....willpowerrrr
whew, think the danger is past.
Carry on, everyone - I'm of to celebrate with the Survivor Girls.
Gosh, Judi, not one book but THREE!! Has it sunk in yet?
Jill you have one week young lady, are you ready? Hmmmm...?
BTW, I don't have an issue with illegal immigrants or migrant workers, but rather the duplicitous attitude of the residents here that scream about them, but then hire them to clean their houses, mow the lawn, and take care of their kids. Also, not having sensible work visa/ immigration policy. Rant over.
Just sucked big time on the Wii, can you tell? Wandering to see what's new.
How Do You Edit Your Work?
Everyone is welcome!
Much deserved, and might I say, not a surprise! Only that it took this long.
Many congratulations! And yeah, I want an autographed copy too!
I see many drinks in Sausalito lifted in celebration...
Hey, Viv. My sense of humor is twisted. I do love poetic justice, indeed.
Back to writing out the full outline for this book. I can't keep writing in the cloud. No clue how I'm getting to where I need to go.
Beth, it's a disease. Eventually, you stop fighting it and learn to live with it.
Very cool tidbit Jamie ;)
Thought of you all when I was at Borders today. In one bin I found books by Patry Francis, Krista Tippet, and Geoffrey Edwards--all Gather members! The bad news is that they were in the bargain bin. But I recognized them! That was a cool moment.
Good job and being productive and getting those two out the door Jamie. One day I'll be where you are, maybe.
The Andaman Islands
It couldn't have happened to a sweeter person!
Did I mention the latest twist on the job front? On Monday, I wasn't sure I'd even have a job, with the project freeze. By today, I not only have more work than I could possibly handle, I essentially have two departments/teams fighting over me (the project office was pretty much decimated by the firings earlier this week, and the sole remaining member wants me to move to that department). My boss's boss said "We're gonna open up your toolbox and use everything you've got.", which actually sounds kinda vulgar, if you think about it.
Ah well. For "appreciation day" tomorrow they are catering breakfast, then we're supposed to have a half day off. Too bad my current project is such a towering inferno, I'll likely not be able to take the half day. We'll see how many stops can be pulled out in the morning. An afternoon off is a powerful motivator for folks.
If I'm not around much for a few days, don't sweat it. Life gets more complicated all the time.
Good night my dears, and my wandering darlings. I miss you.
Vivian, I'm sure SF will be great and I'd love to be there -- but we'll do fine in Dublin. I'm very much looking forward to my first Irish visit in about 9 years.
Ian, hang in there. I'm sure we'll get to your thread by the weekend.
Ken: Andaman islands are near India off the east coast. They're administered by India. Some of the islands are still inhabited by stone age people who reject contact with western civilization and shoot arrows at anyone who tries to go there. Where westerners have contacted them, the islanders quickly lose most of their population to introduced diseases. As a result, some of the islands have no contact with the outside world. Kind of odd in this day and age, but maybe a good thing.
Lot's of odd things go on in these out-of-the-way islands. I read somewhere that after World War II Japanese soldiers of their garrison on one of the Pacific Islands refused to surrender. The island wasn't strategically important, so the US just made sure ships got rerouted around them and let them be into the 1950s when most of them finally gave up.
The photos are beautiful, BTW.
In my life: funerals of people I liked are not fun.
Also in my life: You know how computers and computer stuff sometimes just seem to randomly fail? Well, sometimes they just randomly don't fail when they really 'should'. I bought one of those really tiny (slightly larger than my thumbnail) flash drives a while back. A few week later I misplaced it. Annoying, but no big deal. It was on sale for like $14.95 and I didn't have anything vital on it. Well, yesterday my wife found it in the dryer. Apparently I left it in a pocket. It went through the washer. It then went threw the dryer. Just for grins I plugged it in. It seems to work perfectly. In a rational world that wouldn't happen.
Other than that, getting ready to move next week. The office got me a cake today and also bought me a Coach bag :) Yay for new accessories!
Hope everyone is doing well!
Create Beth, go.
Ken when I clicked I got the friggin Aquarium in Berlin. What's up? Feeling jipped! No clue if I spelled that even remotely close to correct. I'll make up for with Virginal Islands :-P
Pat if I could write an ode. I would write one for you. But alas, a poet I am not. MIKE!!!!
Mike we need an ode to a dying company and the valiant heroine who all but goes down with the ship, because she is then saved by a passing pirate ship filled with bourbon, rum, and wombats. Lots and lots of wombats. Don't forget the hot looking pirates too!
I almost want to throw a memory stick through the wash just to test this Dale phenomenon.
Back to Sister Rose.
Rachael, congrats on the go away party. I've attended hordes of events like that, but I've always been part of the group that's staying on. Sounds like yours was fun.
Thanks again to everyone!
Beth, I LOVE that you're channeling Jamie and Jamie, I LOVE that you're querying! You go, girl!
Yes, I now have an iPod and am so glad I do! I was amazed that the thing actually worked after going through both appliances!
And now I'm off to bed. I celebrated with the Survivor Girls and have to get up ungodly early tomorrow for work! Night all!
People in power don't realize that people below them at times can throw a monkey wrench into things. And I personally dig doing that.
maybe there's a book in there somewhere...
Andaman Island Photographs
This blog has other collections of photographs that are very striking.
