that were never meant for me
oh, how I break down and cry
I've been waiting for far too long
for true love filled with ecstasy
why it won't come I don't know why

I thought it could happen with you
I thought you loved my poetry
I thought I could love you true
I thought I could set your soul free
Maybe I just think too much

I knew it was a fool's adventure
to try to woo you from afar
I'm just tilting at those windmills
I was hoping for love so pure
but I was just wishing on a star
I'm still waiting for that sparrow's trill

I thought it could happen with you
I thought you loved my poetry

why can't I just let go of my fear
I hold on to it like a river-bound log
and I'm facing that steep waterfall

I write my own music, Jules. I got tired of waiting around for someone I could trust, so I picked up my guitar after twenty years away from that instrument and started making my own music.

When I feel ready to put a tune to it, I'll try to record it.
