Fabulous how two awesome themes cross within the body of your poem: our hearts can calcify and harden, and the genius of the artist can bring stone to life, even life that is powerfully other-worldly. Great allusions to the Petrine stories. The one nick-named "the rock" in the Gospels is the one whose denial petrifies him. As it was with him, so with us all. Great work.

I have seen dad working in marble, and the veins really do look like human veins. Lovely, apt, concise. To bring it around from human, to hard hearted, to sculptor-freed to live again. It is indeed appropriate and mystically (Numinous) to see Jesus as a sculptor of wo/man.
