Stephy and her first tomato... A photo essay

You might have read The kids and their tomato plants... A photo essay last month.  They have been watering and checking on their tomato plants every single day since they planted them.  There has not been a day done by that they haven't checked on their plants in hopes of finding that first ripe cherry tomato!

Yesterday, they both went out onto the deck and Stphy came running back inside.. literally YELLING as loud as she can.  At first I thought something was wrong.  Then I realized that she was excited because she just had to show me something!  There it was, the first ripe tomato of the year and it was on her plant!

Since Chandler didn't have a ripe one yet (probably tomorrow for his), she shared hers with him.  They cut it in half and ate it so quickly that I didn't even have time to snap a picture! LOL!

Now they are just watching and waiting for the next one to be ripe!

I'm trying to grow tomatoes on my back steps right now, but your children have put me to shame. Congrats to them! It takes a lot of care and patience to take care of a plant. 10 stars.

My son and his wife are growing a garden for the first time. THey are having trouble leaving their hands off things until they are RIPE. They have been so excited about the peppers, and tomatos and broccoli (MY SON DOESN"T EVEN EAT IT) that they are arguing on when to pick things....lol

What a sweet story Bridget, Just think how handy these tomatoes will be. Good on salads, or just washed and cut. To expensive to buy at the market, Plus this size is one on the no no list, brought into America from overseas and making people ill. Growing your own is safe for sure.
